Janet Spestad Janet Sperstad, a CMP Fellow, is professor emeritus at Madison College in Madison, Wisconsin, where she founded the nation's first associate degree in meetings and events management in 2002. Hurricane Helene became a tropical storm in the western Caribbean on Tuesday before making landfall in Florida, causing flooding in the Cayman Islands and heavy rainfall in western Cuba and the northeastern Yucatan Peninsula. As of Friday morning, more than 4 million homes and businesses were without power in Florida, Georgia and the Carolinas.
