MG Comet EV Long Term Review, September 2024 Report
Life is slow sometimes and crazy sometimes. Life has been a little crazy for me over the past month, which means running around and not having a lot of free time. MG Comet Long Term Review – Second Report
The MG Comet has been in our long-term fleet for over six months. In the first report, I mentioned how our small long-term aircraft attracts attention, making it less suitable for those who prefer to fly under the radar. Comet has since flown several kilometers in and around Mumbai, providing a range of new insights. We also have its main rival, the Tata Tiago EV, in our long-term fleet, which helps us make some interesting comparisons over time. We've established that the Comet is easy to park, maneuver, and has excellent air conditioning, but its ride quality leaves something to be desired. With a driving range of over 8,000 kilometers, there is a lot to discuss, especially in terms of range and charging. After a full charge, with regenerative braking set to "heavy," my range has been around 160-180 kilometers. Of course, this depends on flow and throttle input. Unfortunately, the Comet doesn't provide any real-time efficiency readings, so you're kind of…

Maruti Jimny Long Term Review – 1 Month Report
One fine day, Maruti Suzuki decided to hand over the Jimny AT to me for a month, the timing was perfect as the monsoon was at its peak in Mumbai and the roads were also at their peak (which were in bad condition). I decided to take advantage of the opportunity and use the Jimny as my daily commuter car, and boy is it awesome!I've always been a big fan of the Jimny's suspension. Ride quality on bad roads is excellent. I hit multiple bad stretches of road on my way to work, and I never had to slow down when I was driving the Jimny. I find the compact size also very useful when zipping around tight scenarios, but small isn't always better, because despite this SUV's limited footprint, the turning radius is actually wider than the Toyota Fortuner, which means It's not easy to turn when you need to, and the Jimny's heavy steering also requires more twist…
Tata Tiago EV Long-term Review – Second Report
Tata Tiago.EV has long been the most efficientAfter Parth's first two months with the Tata Tiago EV, I had the opportunity to make my life more comfortable and affordable with the Tiago EV for the next two months. I mostly ride a motorcycle to get around or occasionally take a Tiago diesel out as I have one at home. So, getting used to the new Tiago EV was not a big challenge. The only major challenge was figuring out how to charge the car because, like Parth, I did not have an indoor charger.Fast charging is the best solution for city drivingA full charge costs around ₹400 to ₹530, depending on the public charging rates in Mumbai and Thane. Most of the time, I drain the car to around 10% before recharging. The estimated range varies dynamically based on my driving style, and engaging the Sport mode reduces the range by about 5-6%. The range also varies based on air…

Stairway to Heaven – Lucid’s Air Change Clean Fleet Report
Local electric car company launches four different models As the electric vehicle market grows and matures, we are seeing more and more attempts to differentiate electric vehicles and establish identities for models and brands. Today's A is Lucid Motors' all-day driving program - a step-by-step tour Four Air models. 4 different options The challenge for a new company with seemingly only one product is differentiation. The Air models look very similar, but the performance range is as varied as the price, which ranges from $69,900 to $249,000. Clean Fleet Report There has been Some seat time in a single model, but this is the first time to experience them consecutively. I was able to experience all four models in turn—Pure, Touring, Grand Touring, and Sapphire. At the end of the day and nearly 200 miles, I was convinced that there is some truth to Lucid's headquarters being located just across the San Francisco Bay from where we were driving. Each…

Maruti Suzuki Fronx long-term review, August 2024 report
After about 17,000 km of companionship, it was time to say goodbye to our trusted long-term vehicle – the Maruti Suzuki Fronx. The moment has finally come! After around 17,000 kms, it’s time to say goodbye to our trusted long-term vehicle – the Maruti Suzuki Fronx. During the time it spent with us – 13 months to be exact – the car has held a special place in not only my heart but also in the hearts of my colleagues and those around me. The car has been back for a few days as I write this, and it wasn’t until the last day that I realised how much a piece of metal, rubber and cables can mean to you if you spend enough time with it. The kind gentleman who was responsible for keeping our favourite filming support vehicle clean on a daily basis started to think that maybe I had owned it and couldn’t stand the thought of…
MG Comet EV long-term review, August 2024 report
MG told us they needed our bright apple green Comet and offered to replace it with another model. This white model, with a more understated look, is now part of our fleet. Regular readers of our magazine (we love you guys) might have noticed that our long-term MG Comet looked different this month. I can assure you that the EV's paintwork has not faded due to the recent monsoon rains. In fact, our review unit was replaced with another one. MG told us they needed our bright apple green Comet and offered to replace it with another model. This white model is much more understated and is now part of our fleet. But it brought not only a new color, but also new problems. It is noticeably noisier than our previous car. This is especially noticeable when you are driving on a flat road with no distractions. Add to that the noticeable vibrations in the steering wheel and brake pedal,…
Royal Enfield Himalayan Long-Term Review, August 2024 Report
You see, I recently developed a new obsession that is more serious (and more expensive) than any other obsession I’ve ever had – off-roading. Well, long-time fans among us would know how coveted the Royal Enfield Himalayan is in our fleet. The keys to this plucky goat have been passed around since its arrival, and now that they have landed in my hands, I’m not giving them back if I have my way. At least, not anytime soon, and not without a fight (read: begging and pleading). You see, I've recently gotten back into off-roading, and with something a lot more serious (and expensive) than my previous off-roading obsession. The Himalayan did not disappoint. Last month, I took this bike for my first real trip into the backcountry for our exciting DesertX and Himalayan off-roading event. From the moment I took it out on gravel and sand, it proved its mettle as a capable, hardcore adventure bike. It's light, well-balanced,…

Honda Elevate long-term review, August 2024 report
For Honda fans in India, the Elevate is one of the company’s much-awaited new products. Honestly, Honda did take too long to join the SUV bandwagon, but then again, the Japanese company always does a very thorough research before developing a new product or entering a new segment. Despite the delay, the Elevate has proven to be a hit, boosting the company’s sales in India and in the export market. Our long-term Elevate was finished in a striking Phoenix Orange color with a contrasting black roof, ensuring excellent road presence. The interior is finished in a nice brown, and I particularly appreciated the streamlined, simple dashboard layout. Although I drove the Elevate when it debuted, spending more time with the car would provide a better understanding of how it performs in a variety of conditions, allowing for a more comprehensive assessment of its strengths and weaknesses. My first impression is that the Elevate is a solid product. It offers a…

MotoGP Sachsen Circuit 2024 Race Experience Report
First, a fun fact. In October 2023, I travelled to Australia to attend the MotoGP race at the iconic Phillip Island circuit. I cannot stress this enough, but this has been on my bucket list for a long time. Now, for the fun fact, last year, as I was boarding a flight to Sydney, I received a call from one of my cousins. She told me that she was planning to move to Germany in 2024 and suggested that I plan my next working holiday there (they all think so!). I jokingly responded that I would probably plan my trip around the date of the 2024 German Grand Prix. Fast forward to May of this year, my cousin’s plans to move to Germany were on hold, and I had completely forgotten about my own plans to go there. It may have been lurking in my subconscious, but I wasn’t actively thinking about how to make it happen. Or so I…
