ANDREW: How do you predict the impact of climate change on the events industry? Helen: We may already be seeing the effects of climate change on our activities. Extreme weather events do not necessarily occur more frequently in different parts of the world, but they are more severe. Scorching weather in India disrupted events and there were flooding in Dubai...unusual for the region. In the United States, tropical storms in Florida are causing damage. We must anticipate that these extreme weather conditions may cause disruption to our activities. I also think that the industries we serve are experiencing the negative impacts of climate change – that’s where the events industry can provide support, because we have the opportunity to help our clients address these challenges… (and) be a knowledge partner…
