Honda Prelude prototype shows off paddle shifters for first drive
Japanese media has obtained a pre-production prototype of the Honda Prelude. The coupe features a new e:HEV powertrain and sporty chassis setup. It also introduces S+ shift mode, which simulates gear changes despite not having a gearbox. After learning that Honda's new Prelude (yes, the one with analog shifting) will hit U.S. showrooms late next year, a few lucky people in Japan were able to test drive a pre-production prototype on a track. These early test drives gave us a glimpse of an upgraded hybrid powertrain, an "enhanced" soundtrack, and a tweaked chassis setup. Oh, and they also provided a first look at the cabin interior, which Honda has kept under wraps so far. Unsurprisingly, the camouflaged prototype used for these test drives looks nearly identical to the one our spy photographers spotted during development testing. As expected, the concept's exterior changes are minimal, such as slightly thicker mirror caps and some new ADAS sensors. More refined Civic interior Inside,…

Original class action lawsuit accuses GM of breaching new car warranty by failing to fix problems go through Brad Anderson November 10, 2024 19:22 General Motors is facing two class-action lawsuits after owners reported ongoing problems with shifter components. The problem, which affects several GM models, could put drivers in a dangerous situation if their vehicle fails to properly enter park and refuses to stop, the lawsuit says. The first lawsuit, filed in Memphis, Tenn., alleges that some GM vehicles have a "Shift to Park" message that continues to flash on the dashboard even after the…
Porsche won’t add fake shifters like the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N
Despite testing the Ioniq 5 N, Porsche sees no point in developing a synthetic shift go through Brad Anderson 19 hours ago Porsche says there's no point in imitating the internal combustion engine when it's still producing models powered by it. The company said using such a system would make its electric vehicles perform worse. The next generation of the 718 Cayman and Boxster will be transformed into electric vehicles. Of all the automakers, few cater to the needs and desires of racing fans and driving enthusiasts like Porsche. After all, Porsche is the maker of the most iconic sports car of all time, the 911. Yet when it comes to electric vehicles, the German brand doesn't seem interested in adding some of the technology that its competitors have. While many brands have launched performance-oriented electric vehicles over the past few years, Hyundai stands out as one of the best with the Ioniq 5 N. There are many reasons for…
