November 8, 2024 — Volkswagen has recalled more than 123,000 2017-2019 Beetles, Beetle convertibles, 2012-2014 Passats, 2017 Passat wagons and 2006-2007 Passat sedans due to exploding Takata air bags. Volkswagen said the driver-side frontal airbag inflator could explode due to the propellant used to deploy the airbag. Volkswagen recall letters are expected to be mailed out on December 27, 2024, and dealers will replace the driver's side front airbag module. Volkswagen owners with questions are asked to call 800-893-5298 and ask for recall numbers 69EG and 69GQ.
