As the modified Casino White supercar pulls up to the entrance of the hotel where we’ll be shooting, the purring sound of the NSX’s twin-turbo V6 engine can be easily heard. It’s a unique sound, and aside from the cosmetic modifications, it’s what sets it apart from every other NSX on the road. The car belongs to Paul, a local resident and longtime customer of ours. His NSX holds a special place in Chicago (and in our shop), and I wanted to see what makes this Acura so unique. So, on a sunny summer evening, I set up my camera and, in perfect light, began to explore what sets Paul’s NSX apart from every other car on the road.
The XPEL STEALTH paint protection film we installed gave the crisp white paint a nearly matte look. And, while the film provides a matte look, it’s still clear enough to let light shine through and get some of the original shine of the factory paint for a truly one-of-a-kind look. We also de-chromed the car and applied a full Modesta ceramic coating to the body and wheels to protect the car from the elements.
The massive APR/B.Rogue Built rear wing is a world first and helps keep the NSX stable at highway speeds. Michelin tires combined with Acura’s sophisticated AWD system keep the vehicle stable through turns. Behind custom bright red/matte black Ti Hardware three-piece BC Forged wheels, a custom first-of-its-kind APR/B.Rogue Built iLIFT air suspension setup allows for a variety of driving styles; whether it’s comfortable highway cruising, aggressive track driving, or everything in between.
In addition to this, Paul’s NSX has received a number of other modifications, including SOS gaskets, SOS hatch extensions, BMC high-flow filters, Honishen lugs, and Llumar window film. With all of these modifications, Paul’s NSX will be a truly unique car. But why the NSX? I asked Paul why he chose an Acura over several of its competitors. For him, the answer was simple, and it all came down to one simple fact: the NSX is far more reliable than most cars in its class, and its new hybrid drivetrain offers a driving experience unlike any other.
As an Acura, it’s probably no surprise that the NSX is one of the most reliable supercars available today. During the week, the hybrid drivetrain allows for a worry-free (and efficient!) daily commute. On the weekends, the NSX is a track warrior, ready to tackle any corner with sheer power and ultimate agility. After a blast on the track, take it to the local grocery store on the way home, and the NSX can fit a few grocery bags; nothing can go wrong. Does all this make the NSX worth the money? Absolutely.
Paul’s NSX is a car like no other. It has a modified engine, a very unique exhaust note, and looks that turn heads wherever it goes. From the grocery store to the track, Paul drives his NSX with confidence, knowing it’s ready for anything. By the time I finished interviewing and photographing Paul, I had a whole new appreciation for car culture and why enthusiasts are so passionate about their favorite cars. In a way, the NSX is a celebration of Paul’s character—and rightfully so. We understand that our customers’ cars are an extension of themselves. We take pride in knowing that we share that passion.
