Tata Motors is eager to launch the Curvv Dark Edition soon after launching India’s first coupe SUV. However, the company does not seem to stop Curvv Dark Edition, as Curvv’s new test ms went rounds in and around Pune. These are likely the first spy photos of the upcoming Curvv CNG. Let’s take a closer look.

If we look at the Indian auto market, Tata Nexon is the only mainstream car offering multiple of four fuel options (petrol, CNG, diesel, diesel, EV). Looking at the recent spy footage of car enthusiast Uday Supekar, it appears Tata is using four fuel options to launch its second car.

Of course, we’re talking about Tata Curvv and the most recent test Ule Ule mirror, which looks like it’s probably packing the CNG powertrain. If Tata Electric launches Curvv CNG, India’s first Coupe SUV will also offer four fuel options – petrol, diesel, CNG and Electric. In addition, this will be the first and only SUV in India to offer twin-cylinder technology.
The test m is completely disguised and there is no emissions testing equipment on it. Therefore, the test appears to be for internal components and fixtures used in Curvv CNG. This particular test m was peeked near the Swargate area in the heart of Pune. More test mums may appear in the future.

What are you looking forward to?
As of now, only the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder have obtained CNG powertrain solutions, but with impractical and meaningless single-cylinder implementations. With TATA’s I-CNG twin-cylinder technology, we can expect the CNG tank to fit under the fake floor, which not only looks complicated but also provides a more usable startup space.
We can expect Tata Electric to launch Curvv CNG during the festival. The price increase may be around Rs 10,000. Thanks to its larger boot aperture, the company may implement larger cylinders to accommodate more gas to provide a better CNG range. Like other TATA I-CNG vehicles, we can expect CNG startup, seamless switching and other features.
In terms of functionality, we don’t want anything new to add to Tata with the CNG variant. The Tata can only offer a lower-spec turbo petrol engine for CNG, rather than the more powerful Hyperion GDI Turbo Petrol engine. When running on CNG, we can expect a tune state similar to the Nexon CNG with 99 bhp and 170 nm Nexon CNG. An automatic transmission variant with the Tata Curvv CNG may also be possible.
