The battle for dominance in the CNG segment intensifies with Tata Motors launching the Nexon iCNG to challenge the well-established Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG. Both compact SUVs offer eco-friendly alternatives to petrol and diesel, but each comes with its own set of features and specifications. This comparison between the two models will highlight the differences in performance, fuel efficiency, features and price. While Tata’s Nexon iCNG is known for its rugged construction and safety features, the Brezza CNG carries with it Maruti Suzuki’s long-standing reputation for reliable CNG vehicles. Tata Nexon iCNG vs Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG Specifications Comparison: Price

Starting with the price factor, the newly launched Nexon iCNG is priced between Rs 8.99 lakh and Rs 14.59 lakh. Whereas, the CNG model of Brezza starts from Rs 9.29 lakh to Rs 12.25 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom.

The Tata Nexon iCNG measures about 3,995 mm in length, 1,804 mm in width, 1,620 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,489 mm. On the other hand, while the Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG has the same length as the Tata model at 3,995 mm, it has a width of 1,790 mm, a height of 1,685 mm and a wheelbase of 2,500 mm. The Brezza is taller, while the Nexon is wider. Both cars come with standard 16-inch wheels, but the Nexon gets slightly narrower tyres on lower trims.

Talking about the mechanicals, the Nexon iCNG comes with a 1.2-litre turbocharged dual-fuel engine (compatible with both petrol and CNG) that produces 99bhp of power and 170Nm of torque. Currently, it is offered with a manual gearbox, but an automatic gearbox option may be introduced later. The SUV has a direct start feature in CNG mode and is driven by a single ECU that switches seamlessly between petrol and CNG. It comes with a 60-litre CNG tank and is claimed to achieve a mileage of 24km/kg.

On the other hand, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza is powered by a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated (NA) petrol engine that outputs 137Nm of peak torque and 102bhp of maximum power in the petrol version. The same engine outputs 121Nm of torque and 87bhp of power in the CNG version. The Brezza CNG is only available with a five-speed manual gearbox, while the petrol version offers a choice of a six-speed automatic or a five-speed manual gearbox. The CNG model also has a fuel efficiency of up to 25.51km/kg.

Tata Nexon Interior

A 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster, leatherette ventilated seats, panoramic sunroof and a 10.25-inch infotainment screen are just some of the amenities on the Tata Nexon iCNG. The car has twin-cylinder technology and a trunk capacity of 321 litres, which is the largest in its segment.

In terms of features, the top-of-the-range Brezza CNG gets a power sunroof and a 7.0-inch Smartplay Pro touchscreen infotainment system with support for wireless Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and connected car technology. Safety features include ESP, hill hold assist, dual front airbags, rear parking camera, reverse parking sensors and ABS with EBD. Hill hold assist ensures the car doesn’t roll back on a slope, while ESP helps maintain stability during sudden maneuvers to prevent loss of control.
