Police in Florida eventually found the Italian supercar a few states away from where the teens stole it
- Police say two teens stole a 2018 Ferrari 488 Spider in Rhode Island.
- They then drove all the way to Florida, where police noticed it and began a pursuit.
- Both young men are currently in jail, facing multiple charges related to the incident.
Driving a high-performance supercar down the coast is a dream that few of us get to experience. But two teenagers from Rhode Island say they’ve done it. Of course, it could land them in a lifetime of trouble, as police accuse them of stealing the Italian stallion in Rhode Island and then fleeing from police after arriving in Florida.
The teens, 19-year-old Johnathan Costa and 18-year-old Logan Slezak, both from Patuxent, Rhode Island, stole a 2018 Ferrari 488 Spider in October 2023, authorities said. They stole the car during a home invasion, police said, and they allegedly brandished a gun and forced the victim to hand over the keys.

Following the theft, local authorities issued a “watch out” alert for stolen Ferraris. Needless to say, this cool supercar is hard to spot and even harder to hide.
The next day, police found the teens at a home in Clinton, Connecticut, but when they arrived, the teens and the Ferrari were gone, News 4 reported. However, police learned the names of Slezak and Costa through this contact. Since then, police have been searching for the vehicle involved.
On Tuesday, police in Flagler County, Florida, spotted the car and launched a pursuit. County video shows the Ferrari using its high-powered V8 engine to dodge traffic and evade police. It was moving so fast that even the FCSO Ford Mustang couldn’t keep up, and police had to call in a helicopter to help track it. Even then, police didn’t take action until an officer in a patrol car spotted it hiding under a tarp in a backyard.
They arrested Costa at that home and found Slezak the next day in Rhode Island. Both now face charges of armed burglary, vehicle theft and reckless driving.
According to a local law enforcement official, an investigation is underway to determine whether the two were part of a larger operation or if this was just an isolated case. Ironically, a few weeks ago, Costa posted on Facebook that he didn’t understand why people stayed in Rhode Island and that he planned to “stay away from this place.” At this rate, he may end up in Rhode Island prison.
