- The 1,020-horsepower pursuit vehicle is equipped with red and blue emergency lights throughout.
- While the powertrain remains, Unplugged has upgraded brakes for high-speed driving.
Imagine you are a criminal on the run from the police. Maybe after playing too much Grand Theft Auto, you got caught up in a police chase, but instead of pulling over to the side of the road, you stomped on the ground in an attempt to escape the authorities. But you won’t be chased by any old patrol car; you will be chased. Instead, a Tesla Model S Plaid is chasing you. Yes, tartan. The EV is the equivalent of a ballistic missile on wheels, with 1,020 horsepower and a 0-60 time of less than two seconds. Still feeling lucky?
While that’s unlikely to happen (right, guys?), considering how expensive the Model S Plaid is, that hasn’t stopped Unplugged Performance’s UP.FIT division from using this flagship electric car as its latest pursuit The basis of the car, which was released in 2019. SEMA. It’s worth pointing out that this is a vehicle designed to showcase the brand’s police-focused upgrades, but Unplugged is taking orders for its Model S Plaid if U.S. authorities are interested in acquiring the ultimate pursuit vehicle.

These modifications are a little more extensive than turning on some flash and calling it a day. To maximize the electric car’s aerodynamics, UP.FIT decided not to use bulky lights on the roof, but instead to mount them behind the windshield and rear window.
The front end of the Model S Plaid has also been modified, with black pushrods and small red and blue lights. UP.FIT then added high- and low-frequency emergency sirens and installed police lights on the apron, tailgate and rear diffuser. The black and white uniforms of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department completed the look.
The flagship Model S comes standard with 1,020 horsepower from the factory and can hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 1.99 seconds. That’s fast enough to chase down any suspects, so UP.FIT didn’t mess with the car’s two electric motors. However, it has upgraded brakes and new forged lightweight wheels.
Now, whether law enforcement agencies can actually justify spending money on a Model S Plaid is another question. But given the increasingly bizarre nature of police fleets—some departments already have cybertrucks, after all—it’s not entirely impossible.
