Tesla Suspected Of Causing Fire That Destroyed Houston Garage
  • A suspected Tesla fire caused extensive damage to a home and garage in Houston.
  • Flames quickly engulfed and destroyed the garage, leaving only a smoking mess.
  • The fire department’s arson squad is actively investigating the cause of the fire.

Earlier this week, a house fire in Houston, Texas, severely damaged, was suspected to have been caused by a Tesla. Thankfully, no one was injured in the blaze, but it’s safe to say that the vehicle at the center of the blaze will never be driven again.

Firefighters from the Houston Fire Department responded quickly to a fire on Long Meadow Drive around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday. Video from the scene showed a white car parked in the driveway engulfed in flames, but it is not believed to be the Tesla car involved. The electric vehicle was reportedly parked in the garage, which was also severely damaged by the fire.

In one of the videos, firefighters can be seen pulling out huge hoses used to extinguish the flames, while in a second video, one of them can be seen entering the burning garage with an axe. Video taken after the fire was extinguished shows that almost nothing remains of the garage except its basic frame.

CarScoops has contacted the Houston Fire Department seeking more information about the fire. Authorities believe the fire started in the Tesla in the garage and then spread to the house, CW39 reported. The department’s arson team is currently investigating the cause.

This isn’t the only Tesla to catch fire in a U.S. garage recently. Earlier this week, a Tesla Model X parked in a Florida garage was flooded and caught fire in the wake of Hurricane Helene. Video taken from inside the garage showed the battery pack being submerged and the fire appeared to have been started by a small explosion inside the electric vehicle.
