  • The long-awaited car may debut as a concept car at the Warner Bros. movie studio.
  • Elon Musk delayed the initial unveiling in August so that Tesla’s design team could change the front end.
  • The robotaxi’s debut comes just months after Rimac showed off its own in-house robotaxi.

Tesla’s long-awaited robotaxis are almost here, and will reportedly be unveiled at an event in Los Angeles on October 10.

The all-electric self-driving car will be on display at the Warner Bros. Discovery Studios film studio in Burbank, according to people familiar with the matter. Tesla, Elon Musk and Warner Bros. declined to comment on the Bloomberg report, but we have known about the planned self-driving taxi for a long time and that it would be coming soon.

The early plan was for the vehicle to be unveiled at a dedicated event on August 8. However, Musk requested a last-minute change to the front-end design of the self-driving taxi in mid-July, which forced Tesla to adjust the vehicle and delay its launch.

Little is known about this vehicle. In early July, The Boring Company’s Las Vegas headquarters released a short video showing a large self-driving van prototype built with a simple metal frame, equipped with large windows and capable of seating at least 11 passengers. The vehicle also features a familiar Tesla steering wheel and a large digital instrument panel.

Possible sketches and designs of Tesla’s Robotaxi

However, it is unclear whether this prototype is Tesla’s planned Robotaxi or something else The Boring Company has built for its own purposes. Perhaps the more notable “leak” came in May, when Tesla posted a short video on social media showing sketches and clay models of a two-seater vehicle without a steering wheel and bench-style seats. The creation also features scissor doors, covered rear wheels, and a prominent glass house.

In June, Rimac unveiled the Verne concept, a futuristic two-door car equipped with advanced autonomous driving technology that will go into service in Zagreb in 2026 before expanding to 11 other cities in the UK, Germany, other parts of Europe and the Middle East.
