With the just-launched new Gen Amaze, Honda takes the crown as India’s most affordable car equipped with ADAS safety net
As more and more car buyers in India become aware of vehicle safety, OEMs are smartly making safety features available as standard or in lower variants. In this way, OEMs are bringing democratized safety features to the masses. With ADAS becoming a hot topic in the car town, some brands are democratizing safety better than others. Let’s take a look at the 20 most affordable ADAS-equipped cars on sale in India.
20. MG Hector Plus – Rs 23.26 (Ex-sh)
Just like the 5-seater Hector, the MG Hector Plus is also sold with ADAS only in the top-spec Savvy Pro trim, which comes with the only 1.5L turbo-petrol engine and the only CVT gearbox. Adding a diesel engine option with top-spec Savvy Pro trim could unlock more sales potential.
19. MG Hector – Rs 22.5 Cr (Ex-sh)
The MG Hector is a major competitor to the Tata Harrier and Mahindra XUV700 and is one of the pricier ADAS-equipped models in the segment. This is because MG only offers ADAS in top-spec Savvy Pro trim, and only with the sole 1.5L turbo-petrol engine and the sole CVT gearbox.
18. Tata Safari – Rs 22.49 (Ex-sh)
Like the Harrier, the Safari 3-row SUV also comes with ADAS package starting from Adventure+ A trim (Persona) and is available in manual and automatic transmission options, paired with a sole 2.0L diesel engine.
17. Tata Curvv EV – Rs 21.99 (Ex-sh)
With the BaaS battery rental plan of the MG ZS EV, the Tata Curvv EV becomes the most affordable electric vehicle with ADAS suite in India. Although Tata only offers ADAS on the top-spec Empowered+ A model (Persona) equipped with a larger 55 kWh battery pack.
16. Tata Harrier – Rs 21.69 (Ex-sh)
After the Mahindra XUV700, the Tata Harrier is the most affordable ADAS-equipped mid-size SUV in India. Tata offers ADAS in the Harrier starting with Adventure+ A trim (Persona), which comes with manual and automatic transmission options, mated to a sole 2.0L diesel engine.
15. MG ZS EV – Rs 20.56* (Ex-sh)
ZS EV is one of the most affordable ADAS-equipped electric vehicles in India. The MG ZS EV offers ADAS only in the top-spec Essence trim. But there’s an asterisk in the pricing, and that’s because the price includes a BaaS (Battery as a Service) battery rental plan. Without BaaS, the most affordable ADAS-equipped MG ZS EV model costs Rs 25.55 lakh (Ex-sh).
14. Mahindra XUV700 – Rs 19.49 (Ex-sh)
The XUV700 has been one of the most popular premium SUVs in India and has received good response even in the export market. The most affordable ADAS-equipped XUV700 trim is the AX7. It is available in petrol and diesel along with manual and automatic gearbox options with prices starting at Rs 19.49 lakh (Ex-sh).
13. Hyundai Alcazar – Rs 19.46 (Ex-sh)
The recently launched Creta three-row version of the Hyundai Alcazar is one of the smartest choices for the chauffeur audience. It gets the ADAS package starting with the Platinum trim and gets a sensible manual gearbox option to make the price competitive.
12. Kia Seltos – Rs 19.08 (Ex-sh)
The Creta’s Kia counterpart, the Seltos, gets the ADAS package starting with the GTX trim. Since the GTX is only available with the 1.5L GDi Turbo petrol engine and 7-speed DCT gearbox, the most affordable ADAS version of the Seltos is quite expensive at Rs 19.08 lakh (Ex-sh).
11. Tata Curvv – Rs 17.5 (Ex-sh)
As of now, Tata has not offered ADAS kit for its popular Nexon and Punch SUVs. This makes the Curvv Tata’s most affordable ADAS-equipped vehicle. However, only the top-spec Accomplished+ A trim level (Persona) gets ADAS.
10. MG Astor – Rs 17.22 Cr (Ex-sh)
MG Astor is one of the first vehicles in India to offer ADAS. It only offers the ADAS package in the top-spec Savvy Pro trim level. The model is available with 1.5L NA petrol engine and 1.3L turbo petrol engine and is priced starting at Rs 17.22 lakh (Ex-sh).
9. Mahindra Thar Roxx – Rs 16.99 (Ex-sh)
It can be said that the Thar Roxx is the only true SUV (by the textbook definition of SUV) that appears on this list. Mahindra is offering the ADAS package on the Thar Roxx starting from AX3L at Rs 16.99 lakh (Ex-sh). Interestingly, the AX3L is only available in diesel, manual and rear-wheel drive.
8. Hyundai Verna – Rs 16.29 (Ex-sh)
Apart from the City, the most affordable C-segment sedan in India is the Hyundai Verna, with prices starting at Rs 16.29 lakh (Ex-sh) for the SX (O) trim. However, the Hyundai SmartSense ADAS package starts with the iVT transmission variant in SX(O) trim, while the manual variant misses out on it.
7. Hyundai Creta – Rs 15.98 (Ex-sh)
India’s best-selling SUV and best-selling compact SUV, Hyundai Creta is available with Hyundai SmartSense ADAS package and comes in SX Tech trim, starting with 1.5L NA petrol engine and manual gearbox option.
6. Honda Elevate – Rs 15.21 (Ex-sh)
Unlike the City sedan, the Elevate SUV is only available with Honda Sensing ADAS package along with top-spec ZX trim starting at Rs 15.21 lakh (Ex-sh). It would be better if Honda could launch a lower version of Elevate’s ADAS like City did. Despite this, the Elevate remains the most affordable ADAS-equipped compact SUV in India.
5. Kia Sonet – Rs 14.82 (Ex-sh)
Venue’s Kia counterpart Sonet also offers ADAS suite for strong safety proposition. Kia only offers the Sonet version of ADAS in the GTX+ and above models, which is only available with the 1.0L GDi Turbo gasoline engine, paired with a 7-speed DCT gearbox.
4. Honda City – Rs 12.7 Cr (Ex-sh)
While the first three products in this list are priced under $4 million, the Honda City is the most affordable ADAS-equipped C-segment car in India. This is because Honda offers ADAS in V, VX and ZX trims in the City. Basically, all variants above the base SV come with the Honda Sensing ADAS suite. This is India’s most impressive ADAS proposition.
3. Modern Venue – Rs 12.44 (Ex-sh)
Venue is Hyundai’s most affordable ADAS-equipped vehicle in India and one of the best-selling SUVs under 40 lakh. Hyundai offers ADAS exclusively in the Venue’s SX (O) trim. For some reason, even the SX(O) Adventure Edition and SX(O) Rider Edition miss out on ADAS.
2. Mahindra XUV3XO – Rs 12.24 Cr (Ex-sh)
The XUV3XO offers a wide range of segment-leading features and creature comforts and delivers the highest quality in-cabin experience. To enhance safety, it offers an ADAS package starting with the AX5L trim. To sweeten the deal, the AX5L also comes with a higher-performance and (interestingly) more fuel-efficient TGDi engine.
1. Honda Amaze – Rs 9.73 Lakh (Introductory, Ex-sh)
The just-launched Honda Amaze has created quite a buzz in India as it becomes the most affordable ADAS-equipped car in the country. Honda is offering the ADAS only in top-spec ZX trim priced at Rs 9.73 lakh (Ex-sh, introductory). It is also one of the first to offer ADAS in the sub-4m sedan space, which is commendable.
