It’s no secret that your vehicle’s brakes are critical to your safety, the safety of your passengers, and the safety of pedestrians and other drivers. Given their critical importance, we wanted to share some of the more common brake problems and steps you can take to correct them.
1) Brake pedal sinks
Your brake system is a closed system that contains brake fluid. The job of the brake fluid is to convert the pressure you apply to the brake pedal into force on the brakes, slowing or stopping the vehicle. If the pedal sinks to the floor or close to the floor when you apply the brakes, there may be a leak in the system that is causing the brake fluid to leak out.
The solution to a soft brake problem is to take your vehicle to a mechanic and have them check the system, find the leak, and then repair or replace the leaking part.
2) ABS warning light is on
ABS stands for Automatic Braking System and prevents the brakes from locking up during emergency braking. In this case, ABS pulses the brakes on and off to prevent the vehicle from sliding dangerously sideways.
ABS is a complex computer-controlled system, and when the warning light comes on, you need to find your favorite mechanic as soon as possible to make the necessary repairs.
Your ABS warning may look like this:

3) Brake pedal pulsation
If your brake pedal vibrates when you apply the brakes, it could mean there is something wrong with your brake rotors. Over time, rotors can collect a lot of debris and can even become warped. The solution is to reshape the rotors, or replace them.
4) Brake squeaking
There are many reasons why your brakes may squeak, but a noisy brake may indicate that you need to replace worn brake pads. Hopefully, the sound you hear is coming from your Metal wear indicator It does this by making a squeaking sound to alert you that your brake pads are wearing thin and need to be replaced before metal-to-metal contact occurs in the brake system.
