GoMechanic’s take on new product launches
Expected Price
The estimated price of Thar Roxx is 15 lakhs and 22 lakhsas it will be equipped with ADAS and some new-age technologies.
Market Competitors
The 5-door Thar has only one direct competitor. That is the Force Gurkha 5-door. The Force Gurkha is powered by a 2.6-litre CRDe engine from Mercedes-Benz. The Gurkha has also recently received a power increase. This will make it a worthy competitor to the Roxx.
However, the Thar cannot be compared with other soft-road SUVs, but the price range still allows comparing the Roxx with the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, MG Astor, Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun.
What GoMechanic thinks of the release
Mahindra has been gaining momentum lately. They update their models frequently. We think that the Indian car market would be better with more new and different cars to choose from. Competition helps improve the existing car market. The launch of the 5-door Thar will definitely bring some changes. Off-road SUVs are becoming more and more popular in India. Making these cars more practical is a win-win situation for Mahindra. Let’s see what direction Hyundai and other car manufacturers will take in the SUV segment in the future.
