- Mitsubishi expands its truck lineup in Thailand with the Triton Black Edition.

- The Black Edition is available exclusively with rear-wheel drive and an automatic transmission.
Black Edition models have almost become a cliché in the automotive world, but people seem to love them so much, so why not give them what they want? Mitsubishi has joined the dark forces with the latest version of its Triton pick-up truck.
Typically, automakers reserve dark-themed trims until later in a vehicle’s life cycle. But Mitsubishi has bucked that trend with the new Triton Black Edition. Unlike the Ultra trim it’s based on, the new version features a gloss black finish for its front grille and Dynamic Shield.

The black theme extends to the mirror caps, door handles, tailgate handle and 18-inch alloy wheels. To offset the monochromatic look, Mitsubishi designers added smoked titanium trim to the side steps and rear bumper.
The Black Edition is only available in Graphite Gray or Diamond White. The interior is dominated by a black cabin with white stitching that contrasts with the black, but the light-colored headliner contrasts with the overall dark theme. Standard features include a 9-inch infotainment system and a suite of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).

The Black Edition is powered by a mid-range version of the 2.4-liter turbodiesel engine, which produces 181 hp (135 kW / 184 PS) and 430 Nm (317 lb-ft) of torque. The Black Edition is only available with a 6-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive. Off-road enthusiasts seeking a blacked-out look will have to forgo the four-wheel drive offered on other models, including the top-of-the-line Athlete.
The Mitsubishi Triton Black Edition is now available in Thailand, with prices starting at 1,027,000 baht ($28,409). Although currently only available in the Thai market, the Black Edition has the potential to expand the global Triton/L200 lineup in the near future.
