Croatian electric vehicle (EV) specialist Rimac is back with another monster car, this time a further developed version of its record-breaking Nevera hypercar.
Called the Nevera R, the electric car is more hardcore, with more power, improved aerodynamics and an advanced braking system to help it achieve higher performance figures than the standard model.
Only 40 will be produced.
Power output has been increased by 163kW to 1571kW over the ‘standard’ 1408kW Nevera, which doesn’t change its 0-100km/h time of 1.81 seconds, but does shave more than half a second off its 0-300km/h time, which is now completed in just 8.66 seconds.
Like the Nevera, the R model has a top speed of 412 km/h, which remains a verified top speed record for an electric car.
While the original Nevera still holds the Nürburgring lap record for electric cars, the Nevera R will likely break that record.
Designed primarily for improved cornering capabilities, the Nevera R is claimed to be lighter than its peers while also featuring more aerodynamic aids.
To support its performance orientation, the Nevera R features a large fixed rear wing and an “aggressive aerodynamic package” with a new large diffuser, which is said to increase downforce by 15% and improve aerodynamic efficiency by 10%.
Its drivetrain also features the latest all-wheel torque vectoring technology to maximise the potential of its high-performance tyres, while its revised aerodynamics are designed to enhance “driving pleasure when used on twisty B-roads and the occasional race track”.
It gets improved Michelin Cup 2 tyres that reduce understeer by 10 per cent and increase lateral grip by 5 per cent, while its drift mode has been tweaked for the new tyres and the steering has been improved too.
A 108kWh battery pack powers four electric motors, and stopping power is provided by carbon-ceramic brakes, which feature a silicone matrix layer for improved braking performance, cooling, and durability.
