- Thirty years later, this 1995 Porsche 911 Convertible has only 279 miles on the odometer.
- It has averaged just 9.6 miles per year since rolling off the assembly line.
- With one day left in the auction, bids on “Bring a Trailer” have exceeded $130,000.
Every Porsche 911 is special to some degree – we get it, that’s not news. But how often do you meet someone with less than 300 miles on their odometer? Even less, there are even fewer people with so few miles on the odometer who also happen to be 30 years old. In fact, that’s what makes this 1995 Porsche 911 Carrera Convertible so special. It has only 279 miles (449 kilometers) on the odometer since new and is currently up for auction.
Yes, 279. For those keeping track at home, it has been driven an average of just 9.6 miles (15 kilometers) per year since it rolled off the production line in Stuttgart. Forget road trips; this car can’t even complete a lap of the Nürburgring every year without exceeding its lifetime mileage quota. Essentially, this is a museum piece that shows exactly what the car looked like in mint condition.

The seller states that the original owner purchased the car new in 1995 with 38 miles (61 kilometers). When the same owner sold it in 2011, it had only 107 miles (172 kilometers) on it. That’s right, they bought it, parked it in the garage, drove it less than 100 miles, and then sold it. The second owner kept it until he sold it last year with 259 miles on the odometer. Now, there are only twenty left.
Interestingly, the famous Porsche rally driver Walter Rohrl saw the car and signed the doors and glovebox. Otherwise, the convertible was relatively normal for a 911 of its time. It comes with some desirable options, including Nokia’s special digital sound package, an automatic braking differential and sports seats.
The winner will experience the thrill of an air-cooled 3.6-liter six-cylinder engine, mated to a suitable six-speed manual gearbox (causing applause). Initially, it produces around 270 horsepower (kW) and 243 pound-feet (Nm) of torque. How much it will earn now after such a long period of inactivity is anyone’s guess.
On the bright side, the seller claims the car received some mechanical TLC in 2023, including an oil change, new fuel filter, fuel pump, and new spark plugs. So, at least, it’s tuned for the occasional garage rev or short driveway roll. Whether it’s ready to hit the road — or whether anyone dares to take it on the road — is another matter entirely.
It’s worth noting that this car went on sale in August, with bidding reaching $180,993. But it didn’t meet the retention requirements, so it came back. Will Bring A Trailer reach that price this time? As of this writing, there’s only one day left in the auction and the top bid is $131,000, so it seems unlikely, but we’ll find out soon enough anyway.
