Compared to a traditional single-cylinder setup, twin-cylinder CNG technology doesn’t take up a lot of space in your luggage
CNG-powered vehicles are gaining traction in India compared to internal combustion engines and electric vehicles. There are many reasons for this huge success, including higher mileage, lower prices and zero range anxiety. However, people have previously been hesitant to buy CNG cars due to the impact on trunk capacity. CNG cylinders take up most of the luggage space, leaving little space to store your belongings and luggage.
Tata Motors introduced twin-cylinder technology to solve this problem, and Hyundai later followed suit with its CNG-powered cars. The revolutionary twin-cylinder technology takes up very little space in the luggage compartment, thus eliminating luggage space issues. Currently, there are several Tata and modern CNG cars using twin-cylinder technology, as listed below.
1. Tata Thiago CNG:
Earlier this year, Tata Tiago CNG was launched with twin-cylinder technology in a price range of Rs 599-875 thousand (ex-showroom). It also became the first CNG car in India to be equipped with an AMT (automatic) transmission. Some of the notable features of the Tiago CNG include an 8-speaker audio system, push-button start and tire pressure monitoring system. The hatchback is powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine with a factory-installed CNG kit that produces 73 bhp of maximum power and 95 Nm of peak torque. The transmission options on the car are 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT.

The Grand i10 Nios CNG is available only with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
3. Hyundai Aura CNG:
The sub-compact CNG sedan also gets updated with twin-cylinder technology along with the Grand i10 Nios. It is available in three variants, E, S and SX, priced between Rs 7.48-9.04 lakh (ex-showroom). As you know, the Hyundai Aura CNG E trim is even cheaper than the Grand i10 Nios but it lacks basic features like rear power windows, audio system and infotainment touchscreen system. However, it comes with 6 airbags as standard safety features. At the helm is the same 1.2L petrol engine with CNG kit that produces 68 bhp and 95 Nm, mated to a 5-speed gearbox.
