- GAC Toyota has launched a special edition of Camry in the Chinese market.
- The Honor Edition combines matte paint and black trim with a spacious package.
- The sedan is equipped with a 2.0-liter hybrid engine that produces 194 hp and 188 Nm of torque.
It seems to be getting harder and harder for automakers to find a cool name for a special edition. A good example is the recent launch of the sporty Toyota Camry Honor Edition in China, designed to stimulate customer interest in hybrid sedans.
The Camry Honor Edition is only available in matte gray exterior with black Toyota logo and Camry lettering on the tailgate. The sporty body kit includes a black grille, pronounced splitter, rear diffuser and rear lip spoiler. These can be combined with a set of 19-inch wheels for a Lexus vibe.

On the interior, the special edition Camry features velvet and leather interiors, and 64-color ambient lights project cool patterns on the dashboard and door cards.
Equipment includes a digital cockpit with dual 12.3-inch screens, a head-up display, a Dynaudio premium sound system and a panoramic sunroof. In addition, there is a “Boss Key” button that adjusts the position of the front passenger seat to create more space for the driver.
Under the hood is a self-charging hybrid system based on a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. Combined output is 194 hp (145 kW / 197 hp) and 188 Nm (139 lb-ft) of torque, transmitted to the front wheels. Note that Chinese buyers can also choose from pure internal combustion engine models and 2.5-liter hybrid models.
Toyota Camry Honor Edition has started accepting reservations in China. Pricing starts at 202,800 yen ($27,800) for the HG trim and 202,800 yen ($27,800) for the full-spec HXS.
Sales of the ninth-generation Camry in China have been below expectations since the sedan debuted earlier this year. Unlike its best-selling predecessor in GAC Toyota’s product line, the new Camry faces tougher competition from local sedan products.
