The Toyota Century GRMN SUV prototype features a unique body kit, a front splitter with Century logo, gloss black 22-inch alloy wheels and sliding rear doors

The performance-focused GRMN variant of the Toyota Century, which was unveiled as a one-off when the SUV debuted last year, has now been confirmed for production. Toyota Chairman Akio Toyoda revealed during a meeting with Century owners in China that he currently owns the only Century GRMN, adding that his goal is to make the sporty variant available to the general public worldwide, “Next, I want to make a GRMN that many people around the world can drive.” Currently, the Century GRMN is not officially available. However, the chairman said they “will have to wait for a while,” leaving interested customers in suspense. Ahead of the performance-focused Century GRMN’s global debut, let’s explore some of its potential features.

Toyota Century GRMN SUV: Key highlights

The GRMN version has a lower profile and unique features compared to the standard Century SUV. It includes a unique body kit with several exposed carbon fiber elements, a front splitter with Century logo, gloss black 22-inch alloy wheels and sliding rear doors. Although there is no official confirmation, the design specifications of these prototypes may be transferred to the production model.

Toyota has yet to reveal powertrain or hardware details, but it is speculated that the performance-oriented production version of the Century SUV will feature a sportier chassis with revised suspension, steering, and brakes. For starters, the standard version of the Century SUV is equipped with a 3.5-liter V6 plug-in hybrid powertrain paired with an e-CVT transmission that outputs 400 horsepower. It is equipped with the company’s E-Four Advanced AWD system. With an emphasis on performance, the GRMN-badged SUV may receive additional power to compete on the international stage with high-end SUVs such as the Aston Martin DBX707, Mercedes-AMG G63, and Lamborghini Urus.

The Century SUV is currently only sold in China and Japan, but Toyota intends to expand its global sales to compete with models such as the Rolls-Royce Cullinan. With its upcoming launch, the sportier GRMN SUV will compete with the Cullinan Black Badge.
