- Toyota Corolla Altis HEV GR Sport has been facelifted again in Thailand.
- Highlights include square bumper air intakes and clear taillight lenses.
- The sedan is only available as a hybrid model and is tuned for the GR Sport chassis.
The Toyota Corolla Altis sedan may not offer a true performance variant like the GR Corolla hatchback, but the GR Sport trim attempts to add a bit of spice with some sporty styling and some chassis tweaks. The updated hybrid model has made its debut in Thailand and now features a slightly updated battery and a redesigned GR Sport body kit designed to give it more visual appeal.

The second redesign is a stopgap measure designed to keep the Corolla Altis relevant in the Asian market until the next generation Corolla finally arrives in the near future.

At the front, the Corolla Altis GR Sport features square air intakes, a design directly inspired by the GR Yaris and GR Corolla, as well as a slimmer grille that gives the front end sharper edges. A new set of 17-inch black alloy wheels complement the gloss black trim around the body, adding to the aesthetics. Smoked LED taillights with clear lenses add a bit of style, while a new rear spoiler completes the updates. However, the side skirts and rear diffuser remain unchanged, a reminder that this is still a Corolla at heart and not a true GR model.

Inside, the Corolla Altis GR Sport is distinguished from other models by perforated suede upholstery on the seats, red contrast stitching with matching seatbelts, smoked silver inserts, and the steering wheel and start/stop buttons. GR logo. Standard equipment also includes a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 9-inch infotainment display and a color head-up display.
Like its predecessor, the Corolla Altis GR Sport benefits from model-specific settings for electric power steering, dampers and coil springs, as well as a rear stabilizer bar. However, the self-charging hybrid system with the 1.8-liter engine doesn’t receive any performance upgrades, producing just a lackluster 121 hp (90 kW / 122 hp).

New for 2025 are lithium-ion battery packs, which will replace older nickel-metal hydride batteries. Capacity has been increased to 4 Ah (from 3.6 Ah), resulting in improved fuel efficiency. The updated HEV is rated at 4.2 L/100 km (60 mpg), which is slightly better than the 4.3 L/100 km (54.8 mpg) of the model it replaces.
In addition to the self-charging hybrid, the Corolla Altis is available in Thailand with conventional 1.8-liter and 1.6-liter petrol engines, although these options are not available in GR Sport trim. For those who crave subtle sportiness, the hybrid GR Sport remains the flagship model.
The updated Corolla Altis HEV GR Sport is now available in Thailand priced at THB 1,129,000 (approximately US$32,900). In comparison, the HEV Premium model with the same powertrain is priced slightly lower at 1,009,000 baht (approximately US$29,400).
