Review: 2025 Toyota Tacoma Hybrid adds winning ingredients
This truck has an eye-catching exterior that combines mud bath paint with a retro-style livery that’s sure to turn heads. Chrome mirrors and door handles further enhance the old-school vibe.
In addition to a throwback to trucks of the past, the model also features an ARB sport bar, auxiliary lights, and brushed aluminum wheels wrapped in BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A tires. There’s a spare tire and a dedicated fuel cell in the rear bed. It’s also worth noting that the tailgate has been replaced by a net to save weight.
Since the concept was designed for off-road racing, a lot of attention was paid to the suspension. It features TRD front upper control arms and FOX Quick Switch 3 internal bypass shocks with aluminum housings and rear remote reservoirs. They are joined together by a full set of skid plates for extra protection.
Toyota hasn’t revealed much about the interior, but it comes with red SofTex seats with four-point safety belts. We can also see a custom roll cage and TRD Pro badging.
The automaker didn’t mention performance specs, but the Tacoma TRD Pro comes with an i-Force Max powertrain consisting of a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, a 1.87 kWh nickel-metal hydride battery, and an integrated electric motor. Enter the eight-speed automatic transmission. This setup gives the truck a combined output of 326 hp (243 kW / 331 PS) and 465 lb-ft (630 Nm) of torque.
