Toyota has launched the Urban Cruiser, a new all-electric SUV for Europe that is heavily based on the Suzuki e-Vitara.
The Urban Cruiser is 4,285 mm (168.7 inches) long and sits between the Yaris Cross and C-HR in Toyota’s European SUV range. Its exterior design is very similar to the urban SUV concept launched a year ago, but it has some low-key features in production.
Most of the sheet metal is shared with the Suzuki e-Vitara, as is the interior, except for Toyota’s unique hammerhead LED lights and enclosed grille.
Like its Suzuki twins, the Toyota Urban Cruiser uses an EV-specific architecture and will be available in three power outputs and two lithium iron phosphate battery options.
FWD models produce 142 hp (106 kW / 144 PS) or 172 hp (128 kW / 174 PS) from a single electric motor, while the AWD version produces 182 hp (135 kW / 184 PS) from a dual-electric motor setup. The smaller 49 kWh battery is available with FWD only, while the 61 kWh battery is available with FWD and AWD.
The Toyota Urban Cruiser will make its public debut at the 2025 Brussels Motor Show in Europe. The automaker has committed to launching 15 zero-emission vehicles in its lineup by 2026, including six pure electric vehicles based on purpose-built platforms.
This is a developing story and will be updated…
