Toyota announced today that it will give 500 customers a new Nintendo Switch OLED model portable gaming console when the all-new Grand Highlander goes on sale this summer.
“This is a fantastic collaboration between Toyota and Nintendo. Grand Highlander and Nintendo Switch are the ultimate combination for family and road trips,” said Lisa Materazzo, group vice president of Toyota Marketing.
Toyota unveiled its new three-row Grand Highlander ahead of the Chicago Auto Show this week. It’s a midsize unibody SUV that can seat up to eight people, with enough room in the trunk for seven carry-on suitcases even when all seats are occupied.

Therefore, it is positioned as a vehicle suitable for long-distance travel for large families, and the Nintendo Switch is the perfect companion for the vehicle. The new OLED model increases the screen size from 6.2 inches to 7 inches.
The Switch comes with a controller that splits into two for multiplayer fun, perfect for couch co-op (or, in this case, bench co-op). With it, Toyota will also give away Mario Kart 8, the latest racing game in the series, to 500 recipients of the system.
“The Nintendo Switch – OLED model and the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe game will add extra excitement to road trips this summer,” said Devon Pritchard, executive vice president of sales, marketing and communications at Nintendo of America. “What makes this promotion with Toyota so exciting is that the Nintendo Switch system can be played on the go as well as on a TV, so anyone driving a Grand Highlander can take the system with them and continue to play games.”
To celebrate, Toyota has created a custom Grand Highlander themed after the Nintendo Switch OLED model. The car will be on display at the Chicago Auto Show from February 9 to 19.
The Grand Highlander will be available with two hybrid powertrains, producing up to 362 hp (270 kW / 367 PS) and 400 lb-ft (542 Nm) of torque. The automaker said it will announce pricing and a release date this summer.
