Fake badges and diffuser with quad tailpipes make Japanese SUV look like a Ferrari clone
- Japanese tuner Aero Over has made the Toyota Crown Sport look more like a Ferrari.
- Modifications include a splitter, diffuser, quad exhaust pipes, wheels and fake badging.
- The SUV was displayed at the Tokyo Auto Salon, right next to the real car.
The Toyota Crown Sport is a crossover not offered in North America, and the Ferrari Purosangue may seem like it’s from completely different worlds, but their design similarities can’t be ignored. Japanese tuning company Aero Over decided to try out these similarities. They paid homage to the Italian SUV at a fraction of the cost by outfitting the Crown Sport with a custom body kit, quad exhaust pipes, Ferrari-style badging, and some new wheels.
This modified Toyota Crown Sport was unveiled at the 2025 Tokyo Auto Salon, strategically parked next to a real Ferrari Purosangue so visitors could play the “Spot the Imposter” game. These modifications include a sharper front splitter and a redesigned rear diffuser made of fiber-reinforced plastic, while quad exhaust tips reflect the V12-powered Purosangue’s aggressive rear-end styling.

A new set of diamond-cut wheels paired with yellow brake calipers add another Ferrari-esque touch, subtly playing to the perception alongside the factory-fitted glossy black cladding around the wheel arches.
To complete the illusion, the Aero Over added a yellow badge on the hood and matching shields on the front fenders, mimicking Ferrari’s iconic badge. Even the custom P639e and Aero Over lettering on the tailgate use Ferrari’s unique font.

To be fair, it’s worth pointing out that the Crown Sport technically beats the Purosangue. Toyota unveiled its soon-to-be-production Crown Sport prototype in July 2022, while Ferrari did not officially launch its first premium model until September of the same year. Granted, leaked photos of the Purosangue factory floor have been circulating online back in January 2022, but it’s still an interesting tidbit that’s worth adding to the conversation.
Styling-wise, the Crown Sport adopts Toyota’s “hammerhead” design, a signature feature of the brand’s modern lineup and also seen on models such as the latest Prius. The Purosangue, meanwhile, takes a more exotic approach, with a front end that echoes the sleek, aggressive nose of the Ferrari SF90 supercar.

For those dreaming of Ferrari vibes without paying the Ferrari price tag, upgrade parts for the Aero Over are now available in Japan. The front splitter and rear diffuser cost 250,000 yen (about $1,600), with another 250,000 yen ($1,300) required for a custom exhaust muffler setup.
Ferrari style logo? The hood and fenders are priced at 8,500 yen ($54), which is a steal. Even the tailgate sticker is only 2,000 yen ($12). Keep in mind that these prices do not include taxes, painting or installation fees, so budget accordingly.
Pricing for the Toyota Crown Sport in Japan starts at 5,900,000 yen (approximately $37,500), which is a bargain compared to the Purosangue’s sticker price (which easily exceeds $500,000). Even after all modifications are completed, you can still buy a complete set of Purosangue tires and rims with confidence.
Tokyo Auto Salon 2025. I thought there were two Ferrari Pro Sangues on display, but one of them was a Crown Sport. It looks like a Ferrari logo, but with a crown logo, and the muffler has a Purosangue style, so it’s complete. pic.twitter.com/o6sQk6n5bO
