TVS gears up to launch third electric two-wheeler in Indian market after iQube and X electric scooters

TVS plans to launch a new electric two-wheeler in the Indian market. The Indian two-wheeler maker’s upcoming electric offering will be launched in March 2025 and will be the third electric model in its product line-up. The company has jumped on the e-scooter trend, selling 1.27 lakh units and generating revenue of Rs 10 lakh in the first half of this fiscal. 16 billion rupees.

The development of a new electric two-wheeler comes after the brand’s CEO confirmed at an investor conference that it will add new products to its electric portfolio this financial year. As of August this year, the Hosur-based company ranked second in the electric two-wheeler segment, behind Ola Electric.

However, the company subsequently slipped to the third position in September as Bajaj Auto took the lead with its Chetak electric range. TVS currently relies on the iQube series which offers various models in the Indian market and expansion is the need of the hour.

In addition to a new range of electric scooters, the company is also working on a new electric motorcycle, the development of which is already on track. While the details of TVS’s upcoming electric two-wheeler are not yet known, the latest media reports suggest that it could be the Jupiter Electric or the XL Electric, which will target the B2B segment.

For reference, TVS has trademarked two names in India, namely XL EV and E-XL. We expect the company to launch the upcoming electric two-wheeler at the Bharat Mobile Expo 2025 early next year, while the official launch is likely to take place by March 2025.

Currently, the TVS iQube is available in 5 models with various battery pack options including 2.2 kWh, 3.4 kWh and top-of-the-line 5.1 kWh units. The TVS iQube electric scooter price range starts from Rs. 94,999, going all the way up to Rs. 1.85 lakh (ex-showroom). Apart from this, the TVS X premium electric scooter is also part of the range but deliveries have not started yet.
