

The two-wheeler segment in India fell in domestic sales in February 2025 with total sales of 13,17,678 units, a marker decline of 6.92%, compared with 14,15,600 units in February 2024. Leading the field, Honda hit a 7.26% low with a position of 3,83,918 units at the highest position.

Hero MotoCorp then owned 3,57,296 units, with sales down 13.36%. However, the TV shocked the trend with a 3.20% increase, with 2,76,072 units sold. Royal Enfield also performed well, with an annual rate of 18.96% to 80,799 units reflecting strong demand for its premium motorcycles. On the other hand, Bajaj and Suzuki face a 14.30% and 11.82% drop.

Compared with January 2025, domestic sales fell 9.09% on a one-month unit (MOM) basis, with 14,49,400 units sold. Sales volumes for all major brands fell, with Hero and Suzuki down by 13.36% and 16.37% respectively. Interestingly, the hero continues to lead retail.
Despite the domestic downturn, exports have boosted sales of two-wheelers
The export market remains a strong growth driver, accounting for 3,64,972 vehicles in February 2025, a year-on-year increase of 17.04%. Bajaj leads the segment with 1,53,280 units, up 23.46% year-on-year. The TV also saw an impressive 28.25% increase, exporting 1,15,817 units.

Royal Enfield and Suzuki grew at 23.19% and 18.54% respectively. However, Honda’s decline was 13.89%, while Hero Motocorp remained relatively stable, up 0.74% year-on-year. Exports increased by 2.97% compared to January 2025, with the highest growth rate of television reaching 23.46%. Exports from Bajaj, Honda and Suzuki fell compared to last month.
Overall two-wheeler sales – TV surpasses heroes
The total domestic and export sales of the two-wheeler industry were 16,82,650 units in February 2025, reflecting a year-on-year decline of 2.59%. TV is the only major manufacturer, the only major manufacturer can increase Yoy’s Yoy growth by 9.52%, while also having a 9.52% growth rate while having its momentum for 19 years. In comparison, Honda and Hero’s records fell by 7.91% and 12.39%, respectively. The hero has slipped to No. 3.

In one month, total sales fell 6.72% from 18,03,857 vehicles in January 2025. Despite the growth rate of TVs at a slight 1.09%, all other major brands have reported a decline, with Suzuki facing a steepest mom drop of 17.18%.
The two-wheeler industry in India faces a headwind in February 2025, with domestic sales affecting overall performance. However, exports offer some relief, especially for exports from Bajaj, TVS and Royal Enfield, which have strong international growth. As market conditions develop, manufacturers may focus on product innovation, affordability, and expand their export footprint to cope with a slowdown in domestic demand.
