USED Creative Circular Market, a pioneering platform that advocates circular economy practices in the creative industry, has been officially launched. To celebrate its debut, the platform is launching a special campaign and action: repurposing Christmas installations and giving them an afterlife.
The UK generates an estimated 200,000 tonnes of event and set waste every year, the majority of which comes from single-use installations and props. This problem becomes especially apparent during the festive season, as custom-made Christmas displays are often thrown away after use. Recognizing the urgent need for sustainable alternatives, USED Creative offers a transformative solution to extend the life cycle of these materials.
The marketplace invites retailers, brands, agencies and organizations to list their holiday displays for repurposing. By doing so, the materials can be resold to businesses and nonprofits, creating opportunities for creative reuse and waste reduction.
“Turning waste into treasure”
“We spend most of our careers creating beautiful displays that often end up being waste,” says Jo Kotas, co-founder of experiential design agencies Cooper Collective and USED Creative. “ We saw this as an industry-wide problem and decided to design a solution. The USED Creative Circle Market is more than a platform; it’s a movement to rethink waste and inspire sustainability. “
Co-founder Tin Brown added: “This call for Christmas installations highlights how we can creatively extend the life cycle of materials, turning the end of Christmas into a new beginning“.
Join the movement
Organizations that list Christmas displays can not only reduce waste but also increase visibility of their holiday creations. The repurposed materials will be featured in the January promotion, offering unique, cost-effective materials and installations to eco-conscious businesses and nonprofits.
