— Toyota’s V35A engine replacement recall covers about 112,000 Toyota Tundra trucks and Lexus LX600 SUVs because the main bearing could fail due to machining debris left in the engine.
Toyota and Lexus first announced the basics of the V35A engine recall in May, but engineers have yet to decide how to fix the problem.
Today, Toyota and Lexus announced that all 2022-2023 Toyota Tundra and Lexus LX600 V35A engines will be replaced.
Under the V35A engine replacement recall, trucks and SUVs are equipped with specific V35A engines that contain crankshaft main bearings that allow the crankshaft to rotate within the engine assembly.
The problem occurred at a specific time when engine machining debris on V35A engines may not have been cleaned away during the engine manufacturing process.
The crankshaft main bearings may fail if debris becomes lodged in the bearings while the engine is running.
Drivers of a Toyota Tundra or Lexus LX600 may hear the V35A engine knock or notice that the engine is running erratically. The V35A engine may then fail and stall while driving, including at highway speeds.
Canada will replace approximately 10,000 V35A engines.
