VW optional accessories make ID.Buzz Cargo van look sportier than ID.Buzz GTX
- Volkswagen has spiced up the ID.Buzz Cargo’s appearance with a range of optional accessories.
- Options include a body kit, 20-inch wheels, black badging and glass-appearance panels.
- Most options are also available in ID.Buzz Passenger Edition.
Volkswagen recently launched the ID.Buzz GTX performance flagship model, but what about buyers who want a sportier Cargo version? The answer lies in the optional accessory package, which equips the LCV with a cool body kit while eliminating the bland fascia look with the help of fake windows.
At first, we thought the van pictured was the work of an aftermarket company, but it turns out it’s an option offered by Volkswagen Netherlands. “Glass look panels” make the ID.Buzz Cargo look like a passenger version of the ID.Buzz with tinted windows. They serve no functional purpose as they are applied on top of the body color panels of the light commercial vehicle.
Review: Volkswagen ID.Buzz is the coolest minivan on the block, but there’s a problem
Another interesting option is the styling package, which includes a pronounced front splitter, protective side skirts and a nifty rear spoiler. The body kit can optionally be combined with the Red Accent package, which adds a touch of color to the front bumper and mirror caps, while providing a protector for the rear bumper.
Volkswagen also offers personalization options including 20-inch alloy wheels in different designs, black badging, high-gloss door mirrors and a black finish on the area around the bumper air intakes. The latter is quite different in design and looks more aggressive than the ID.Buzz GTX. Finally, the interior can be upgraded with “hard-wearing and animal-friendly eco-leather” upholstery.
Photos of the custom ID.Buzz Cargo appeared online months ago, but the packages have just become available in the Netherlands. In addition to the LCV-specific glass-look panels, these accessories are also available for the regular ID.Buzz.
In terms of powertrain, Volkswagen ID.Buzz Cargo offers three options. Single-motor RWD versions produce 168 hp (125 kW / 170 PS) and 282 hp (210 kW / 286 PS) respectively, while dual-motor AWD models are good for a GTX-matching 335 hp (250 kW / 340 PS).
If you’re wondering how much the visual upgrades cost, the styling package costs €1,795 ($1,900), the 20-inch alloy wheels cost €1,790 ($1,900), the glass exterior costs €695 ($740), and the red trim package costs €495 ($520 USD), Black Badge €305 (USD 320).
Combined, the sporty model costs €5,080 ($5,400), with the Volkswagen ID.Buzz Cargo starting at €39,990 ($42,500) in the Netherlands.
