Volkswagen and Skoda MQB A0 IN product recall affects 52 vehicles
Skoda and Volkswagen India have announced recalls of some models due to faulty welding of track control arms. According to a listing on the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) voluntary recall website, a total of 52 cars in the Skoda Volkswagen India 2.0 portfolio are affected. The models involved include the Skoda Kushaq and Slavia, as well as the Volkswagen Taigun and Virtus.
Weld defects
The recall was initiated due to possible welding violations by a parts supplier. It is suspected that the welds on the track control arms may have been missed during the production process. This welding problem can lead to potential component failure, which can lead to a sudden loss of vehicle control and stability without any prior warning to the driver.
The production dates of the affected vehicles are from November 29, 2023 to January 20, 2024. The recall was officially registered on October 28, 2024. Of the total 52 cars, 38 are Volkswagen Taigun and Virtus models, and 14 are Skoda Kushaq and Slavia models.
Safety precautions
Although Skoda-Volkswagen has yet to make an official public statement, both carmakers are expected to contact owners of affected vehicles to arrange voluntary inspections and necessary updates. The company aims to correct the problem without paying any cost to the customer, which is standard practice in recall cases.
Owners of affected vehicles can receive direct communication about follow-up inspection and resolution steps.
