Volkswagen Tiguan R line will be imported to India via CBU route

Volkswagen India has officially opened pre-orders for the upcoming Tiguan R series and made its debut on April 14. Interested customers can now retain the SUV through Volkswagen’s official website or through authorized dealers. This new variant arrives as a CBU, which blends performance, advanced features and a bold design language.

Powertrain and performance

Under the hood, India’s Tiguan R series features a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that delivers 204 hp and 320 nm of torque. The engine is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and a Volkswagen 4motion all-wheel drive system. The performance figures are impressive, with the SUV claiming to sprint from 0 to 100 km/hr in 7.1 seconds and reaching a top speed of 229 km/hr.

Palette

Volkswagen will offer the Tiguan R series in six monotonous paint finishes, giving buyers a variety of exquisite shades. Available colors include:

• Night blue metal
• Greendyra Black Metal
• oryx white pearl effect mother
• Cipressino green metal
• Oyster Silver Metal

Interior and features

Tiguan R Line cabins are equipped with several premium upgrades. A 10.3-inch digital instrument panel and 12.9-inch central touch screen – powered by Volkswagen’s latest MIB4 infotainment operating system – the dashboard title. The system also supports live streaming software updates.

Other features include sports seats, ambient lighting, drive mode selectors and steering-mounted controls. The SUV also comes with dual-zone climate control, with touch-based operations integrated into the infotainment display.

Volkswagen has equipped the Tiguan R series with advanced driver assistance systems suites, including adaptive cruise control and roadway assist assistance, with improved convenience and safety.

Pricing expectations

The previous iteration of Tiguan was assembled locally as CKD and priced at Rs. Rs 381.7 crore (former showroom), the R Line variant is expected to have a higher price due to its CBU identity. Industry estimates indicate that the price is in the rupee range. Rs 5 million (exe exhibition hall).

With the Tiguan R series, Volkswagen aims to attract buyers who buy European refined sporty and technically avant-garde SUVs. The formal price announcement and full release will be held on April 14.
