
– Volvo 48-volt battery may occur in about 73,000 recalled plug-in hybrid vehicles and should not be charged until after repair. The recall includes approximately 8,000 such vehicles in the United States and Canada.

There seems to be no batteries that cause fire from high-voltage batteries, and automakers cannot build hybrid or electric vehicles.
As in other manufacturers’ battery recalls, Volvo said the 48V battery could suffer from a heat incident when the battery is fully charged and the vehicle is parked.
Volvo received the first LG 48-volt battery “hot incident” report on February 6, but Volvo did not report too many 48V batteries while driving and was unaware of any crash or injury reports.
“The root cause analysis has identified supplier process deviations that may lead to the risk of internal short circuits and have certain battery cells within the module.” – Volvo
Canada recalled about 600 Volvo vehicles.
LG high voltage battery failure was produced between June 3, 2019 and November 30, 2021.
Volvo is expected to mail a 48-volt battery recall, and on May 15, 2025, dealers will replace the high-voltage battery module if necessary. The dealer will also update the diagnostic software to monitor the battery.
