- Why the truck was crushed is unknown, but it may be a prototype before it was made.
- These models usually lack standard VINs and cannot be sold to the public, so they are destroyed.
- However, some prototypes are occasionally sold to the public through auction or reconstruction.
The Ford F-150 Raptor has long been king in terms of exciting and engaging high-performance pickup trucks. Of course, the more powerful RAM 1500 TRX and F-150 Raptor R have stolen some thunder in recent years, but Standard Raptor still has a loyal following. Unfortunately, there are fewer in the United States now due to a ruthless encounter with a car crusher.
The clip recently shared on Instagram and shows what appears to be the original 2024 F-150 Raptor, which was painted in Shelter Green, encountering an outdated demise somewhere in the United States. There is no news about why the Raptor was sent to the crusher, but this could be a pre-production model used during the development of the noisy pickup.

If so, it may achieve its purpose and is never assigned to a standard VIN and therefore does not qualify for public sale. In the video, the crusher makes the F-150 Raptor’s quick work pressed against the roof as the truck sat on a solid concrete base. First, the suspension compresses under pressure before it bottoms out completely.
From there, the body begins to break and the chassis seems to be just a passenger compartment. The windows exploded, and those aluminum body panels were twisted, bent and smashed. This is a sad ending for one of the most versatile trucks on the market.

We hate to see very good cars crushed like this, but that’s quite the process in the automotive industry. Before launching a new model, brands must build dozens, if not hundreds of prototypes, to test, develop and verify parts. Once these cars have achieved their purpose, they are usually cancelled.
There may be some exceptions. For example, in the past few years, some prototypes from the Laferrari development have been sold at auction. Sometimes, brands also strip and rebuild prototypes of limited-edition models before selling them to customers. McLaren did this with Senna, rebuilt 10 prototypes and sold them as a street legal model.
So while this particular Raptor doesn’t have a second chance, at least it appears in a hydraulically compressed fire.
