We've got the keys to the Lamborghini Urus S - what should we check?
  • This week we’re driving a Lamborghini Urus S in Los Angeles.
  • It has a 657-horsepower twin-turbo V8 engine and sells for more than $300,000.

As an entry-level car, the Lamborghini Urus S isn’t what anyone would call a typical car. The model we’re about to drive starts at $233,853. On top of that, it only has about $70,000 in options. Before we take it out for a spin, we’ll answer your questions.

For those of you who are not familiar, the Urus S is the mildest Style for Lamborghini’s SUV range – although “mild” in Lamborghini terms still means a powerful 657 hp (489 kW) twin-turbocharged V8, eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. Expect this to be a test phase and we’ll also spend a lot of time on fuel, as the car returns 14 mpg in the city and 19 mpg on the highway. Hey, it’s better than the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 Final Edition we just drove.

More: Money can’t buy taste, but it can buy a two-door Lamborghini Urus

It’s worth pointing out that the Urus S is not only fast, it’s also very comfortable. To this end, it comes standard with air suspension, active damping and active roll stabilization. Interestingly, most of the features Lamborghini lists on the window sticker are “optional” and require additional cost.

This includes Balloon White exterior paint valued at $13,384, two-tone Sofisticato interior valued at $6,082, and 23-inch diameter wheels valued at $6,238. The cheapest option on this super-SUV is a $185 valve cover with Lamborghini guards on each end. The vehicle’s total price before dealer markups or destination was $305,693.

We’ll be driving this super SUV in Los Angeles to tour the 2024 Los Angeles Auto Show and surrounding events. We will also be attending Cars & Coffee on the 20th, so feel free to say hi!

From a personal perspective, my favorite car company as a kid was Lamborghini. I’ve never driven one. Some will argue that this is still not a “real” Lamborghini. Between now and Friday, we’ll find out just how wild and bullish it really is. What would you like to know before we send it back? Ask the tough questions!
