Windsor, Comet, Hector and more help JSW MG Motor India

JSW MG Motor India has announced sales figures for November. The company reported total sales of 6,019 vehicles last month, with wholesale sales up 20% from the same month last year. According to MG, the growth is mainly attributable to strong demand for the Windsor EV, the brand’s third electric vehicle launched in India after the ZS and Comet EV. The company highlighted that Windsor played a significant role in these sales, with 3,144 units sold in November. It also led MG Motor India in electric vehicle sales for the second consecutive month. Additionally, MG noted that electric vehicles accounted for more than 70% of its sales in November, emphasizing the growing importance of new energy vehicles (NEVs) in driving revenue sources.

MG Windsor EV: Key sales driver

Last month, Windsor EV achieved positive sales figures of 3,144 units, making it one of the top electric vehicles in India. This versatile CUV (Crossover Utility Vehicle) accounted for 52.23% of MG’s total sales that month. Compared with 4,154 units sold in November 2023, Windsor EV experienced a significant year-on-year growth of 44.90%, with an increase of 1,865 units. However, compared with October 2024, sales dropped by 14.56% month-on-month, with 7,045 units sold, a decrease of 1,026 units. On the contrary, Windsor EV showed continued sequential growth, from 3,116 units in October 2024 to 3,144 units in November 2024, a slight increase of 0.9%.

As of November 2024, 70% of JSW MG Motor India’s total sales will come from new energy vehicles, while the remaining 30% will be internal combustion engine vehicles. This is equivalent to approximately 4,214 new energy vehicles and 1,805 ICE models such as Gloster, Hector, Hector Plus and Astor.

MG Cyberster will be launched next month

MG Motor is gearing up to launch the much-anticipated Cyberster EV in India in January 2025, marking a major milestone in the brand’s electric vehicle journey. The launch will be conducted through MG Select Premium retail channels, providing customers with a unique high-end purchasing experience.

The car’s exterior features stylish LED headlights with daytime running lights, a sculpted bonnet and a split front air intake. Moving to the rear, arrow-shaped taillights and a split diffuser enhance the design, while the side profile is characterized by sharp lines, bold creases and 19- to 20-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. The electric car features scissor doors, further enhancing its visual appeal.

The MG Cyberster is likely to be available in single and dual-motor versions, with an estimated output of 500 horsepower. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds and is expected to provide a certified driving range of about 500 kilometers when fully charged. The EV will be imported as a complete unit (CBU) and is likely to be priced starting at Rs 70 lakh (ex-showroom).
