For planners looking for a scenic way to transport attendees from the city to the slopes, the Winter Park Express operated by Amtrak, in partnership with the State of Colorado and the Colorado Department of Transportation, will launch in the 2025 season Kicking off and expanding service from Denver International Airport and Denver Union Station will begin operations on January 9, 2025. The Winter Park Express will operate five days a week (Thursday to Monday) until March 31. The expanded service also includes the special holiday date of December 12th. 20-22 and 27-29 December 2024. The train will also stop in Fraser, five minutes west of Winter Park. Tickets for the Winter Park Express this year range from $19 to $39, with children ages 2 to 12 receiving 50% off the base fare.
Passengers can now travel directly to and from Denver International Airport or downtown Denver to and from the mountains without driving, giving them more time to relax and adventure. “The Winter Park Express strengthens Denver’s position as Colorado’s center for adventure,” Visit Denver President and CEO Richard Scharf said in a prepared statement. “With direct train service from Denver International Airport and Denver Union Station, Conveniently, visitors can enjoy world-class ski resorts and mountain towns while still taking advantage of Denver’s vibrant culture and amenities.”
Winter Park Resort is a 2-hour train ride from Denver, making it a great day trip option. With the expansion of Winter Park Express service, attendees can leave Denver early in the morning, spend the day on the slopes, and return to the city in the early evening, just in time for dinner at one of Denver’s Michelin-starred restaurants or James Beard’s award-winning restaurant .

Winter Park is not just for skiing. Non-ski groups can enjoy the charm of the mountain town, tubing, winter trails, and stunning views of the Fraser Valley. The expanded service now includes a stop in Fraser, providing easy access to the quaint town and its surrounding attractions.
The Winter Park Express features wide reclining seats; large picture windows; and a two-story sightseeing lounge offering panoramic views of the Rockies. Snacks and drinks are available for purchase on board, and skis, snowboards and other winter gear are transported free of charge.
The train can accommodate 402 passengers at a time, ensuring that more people can take advantage of this unique and easy way to reach the mountains.
