Mount WutaibyTaihuai TownshipIn the center, there are five peaks in the east, west, south, north and middle, higher than the clouds. There are no trees on the top of the mountain, like an earthen platform called Wutai. The highest point, Beitai Yedou Peak, is 3,058 meters above sea level and is known as the “roof of North China”.
Wutai Mountain is the monastery of Bodhisattva Manjushri. It is the only Buddhist monastery in China where the Green Temple and the Yellow Temple complement each other. It is also a tourist spot that integrates natural scenery, historical relics, ancient architectural art, Buddhist culture, folk customs and summer vacation. There are 47 temples, 39 in Taiwan and 8 outside Taiwan. Many of them were built by imperial decree and many of them have been visited by emperors. The most famous ones are: Xiantong Temple, Tayuan Temple, Bodhisattva Peak, Nanshan Temple, Dailuoding, Guangji Temple, Wanfo Pavilion, etc.
