Xiaomi Electric Suv May Be Unveiled In October This Year
  • Most of the exterior design of the new model will be the same as the SU7 sedan.
  • Technical specifications are yet to be confirmed, but an extended-range powertrain will likely be offered.
  • The first deliveries of the Xiaomi SUV will begin in 2025.

Less than five months after the customer delivery of the Xiaomi SU7, the Chinese tech giant has already started working on its second model. The SU7 will be accompanied by an SUV with a Ferrari Purosangue-like appearance, which could debut as early as October.

Several prototypes of the new model have been secretly testing in recent months. It’s currently known as the MX11, and it’s speculated that its design will share much of its design with the brand’s electric sedan. When we first reported on the SUV in June, it was expected to debut in 2025. However, Chinese media speculate that Xiaomi’s big media event in October will debut the new model, along with a range of new consumer electronics from the brand.

Spy photos of the MX11 show that it will definitely not be a large SUV, and will be significantly lower in height than many of its competitors. In fact, it may look like the SU7 on a bit too much growth hormone, more like a cross between a hatchback and a traditional SUV. This is no bad thing, as the SU7 looks very stylish, and the increase in size will improve interior space and practicality.

While we have a fairly clear idea of what Xiaomi’s second model will look like, little is known about its technical details.

It would be logical for Xiaomi to build this car on the same “Modena” platform as the SU7, with the same battery pack and motor options. However, some sources claim that the car could be based on a new platform that supports a range extender option. If this is the case, then changes would need to be made under the hood to support a small ICE engine.
