Yamaha Ray ZR topped the sales charts again, with a year-on-year growth of 19% and a month-on-month growth of 11%.
Yamaha India reported growth in domestic sales of scooters and motorcycles in August 2024. Sales rose 3.45% year-on-year and 7.87% month-on-month to 60,231 units. The sales in August 2023 were 58,222 units, while the company sold 55,838 units in the domestic market in July 2024.
Yamaha sales analysis for August 2024 – RayZR ranks first
The Ray ZR once again holds the number one position with an impressive sales growth and holds a 27% share in the company’s portfolio. Yamaha Ray ZR sales increased by 18.99% year-on-year to 16,264 units, up from 13,668 units in August 2023, an increase of 2,566 units. The Ray ZR also ranks 9th in the list of top 10 scooters sold in August 2024, ahead of Suzuki Burgman.
Yamaha FZ sales fell 7.46% year-on-year to 12,253 units, down from 13,241 units in August 2023. However, the numbers are still good compared to 10,964 units in July 2024, which is an increase of 11.76%. In July 2024, FZ accounted for 19.64% of Yamaha’s sales, which rose to 20.34% last month.
Fascino’s domestic sales also fell 5.31% year-on-year from 11,752 units in August 2023 to 11,128 units in August 2024. However, compared with the sales of 10,052 units in July 2024, it increased by 10.70% month-on-month, and its share in the company’s domestic product portfolio rose to 18.48%.
The MT15 recorded the highest year-on-year sales growth of 36.09% to 9,929 units, up from 7,296 units in August 2023, while its monthly sales were up only slightly by 0.64% from 9,866 units in July 2024. The R15 saw a decline in sales both year-on-year and month-on-month, with sales falling to 8,583 units last month. This was a decrease of 1,900 units compared to the 10,483 units sold in August 2023. Monthly sales were also down by 1.48%.
Aerox sales increased by 12.12% year-on-year and 29.07% month-on-month to 1,998 units, and its share increased from 2.77% month-on-month to 3.32%. The Yamaha R3/MT03, which was launched at the end of last year, lagged behind in the domestic sales chart. Sales were 76 units, a month-on-month increase of 1166.67% compared to only 6 units sold in July 2024.
Upcoming Models from Yamaha
Exciting times are ahead for Yamaha India with multiple models set to be launched soon. The new teaser shows the upcoming R7, Tenere 700, NMax 155, XSR155 and MT-09. Recently, at the 2024 India Auto Expo, Yamaha also showcased motorcycles like the MT-07, R1 and R7, while also showcasing the NMax 155 and Grand Filano scooters.
The 2025 Yamaha X Force has also been launched in Japan at a price of 407,000 yen (Rs 2.36 lakh), but it has not yet been confirmed whether it will be launched in India. Earlier this month, the company also launched the R15M and MT-15 Monster Energy MotoGP editions as part of the company’s “Call of Blue” campaign. The company has also launched the 2024 R15M with Carbon Fiber Pattern graphics, which is available in two colour options of Carbon Fiber Pattern and Metallic Grey.
