Dealers are offering serious deals on Nissan Z, and new tariffs show they won’t last long

- Several Nissan Z models are now listed with a discount of $10,000 or more.
- The base ZS’s base Z has 400 hp and a manual transmission for under $37,000.
- The new 25% tariff on all car imports may soon raise the price of Z.
Sports cars may not move the volume they used to do, but for enthusiasts who still care about rear-wheel drive and proper power, these options are surprising if you know where to look.
The Nissan Z is a retro-style sports car with a lot of power and a great chassis. Nevertheless, Nissan sells much less sales than Ford and Mustang (44,003 in 2024) than the ZS. Some of them depend on availability, but largely it has to do with price. The Mustang starts at less than $32,000. Z starts at about $11,000 for $42,970 before delivery. Well, now that the dealer is closing a deal, you may need to check it out before it disappears.
If you missed it, the Z sells very well now. It just saw an amazing first quarter and it surpassed Toyota Sopra five to one. While studying this story, we think we encountered the reason for this great quarter. The dealer is dealing with it.

For example, check out this amazing Nissan Z Nismo for sale in New Rochelle, New York. Its car offers cars for retailers for $10,265. That’s not a typo. The dealer specifically mentioned the discounts on its listing. This puts the car before taxes and fees are only $58,395. Of course, this is not what anyone calls a cheap car, but it’s a huge performance and fun.
I can confirm that I was behind the steering wheel of the Z nismo last year, one of the most enjoyable sports cars to drive every day. Most importantly, competitors like Chevrolet Corvette may be better on paper, but even the cheapest examples are $67,995 or more. No, Z isn’t hanging out with Corvette anymore, but some are available for $36,990.

That’s right, you get 400 horsepower (298 kW), a manual transmission and classic styling for the MAZDA MAZDA MX-5, and even less than the RF Hardtop, which starts at $37,550 before the destination fee. This is the sad part of all this. Even though dealers continue to turn the deal, and Nissan somehow managed to produce enough products that could be sold to every interested buyer, the tariffs are now officially in effect.
Do your best
The Z is made in Japan, and Donald Trump slapped all car imports with a flat tariff of 25%. This fee – related to the general belief – is paid by US dealers rather than Japanese. In fact, this is the second sales tax on buyers. And it will definitely affect price increases. The bottom line: If you’ve been following the new Z, this may be your last shot, it’s best to get it before pricing becomes more difficult.
