  • General Motors has issued a technical service bulletin to correct the PDR problem.
  • On affected models, the screen may go blank or apps may not run.
  • Dealers can perform repairs free of charge.

General Motors has instructed owners of 2024 and 2025 Chevrolet Corvette models to reset the 12-volt battery to resolve an issue with the performance data recorder (PDR).

It was revealed that the PDR of some Corvette models has a “software anomaly” that prevents it from functioning properly. The system will display a blank screen, fail to open at all, or may display a welcome screen but fail to activate.

General Motors has issued a technical service bulletin about the issue and says owners can test their vehicles for malfunction by pressing the infotainment system’s Home button while the faulty PDR app is loading. If a fault exists, the PDR application will close and only the radio home screen will be displayed.

The automaker is believed to be working on a permanent solution to the problem, but in the meantime, it’s offering a DIY solution for those eager to get their data loggers up and running. Owners have been instructed to remove the battery cables and secure/fasten them together to release the energy stored in the vehicle. This should return the PDR to normal functionality, and GM said “it’s unlikely the issue will reoccur at that point in time.”

While owners can fix it at home, dealers can also perform a free reset.

Chevrolet quietly unveiled the 2025MY Corvette a few months ago, with production starting in September. The entry-level Stingray Coupe and Stingray Convertible still start at $69,995 and $76,995, but the E-Ray Coupe and Convertible prices rise from $104,900 and $111,900 to $108,595 and $115,595 respectively. Chevrolet also raised the price of the Corvette Z06 Coupe from $110,100 to $113,795, while the Z06 convertible now starts at $120,795 instead of $119,100.
