- We recently completed a week-long test drive of the 2024 Nissan Ariya.
- Now, we’re here to answer all your frequently asked questions about electric SUVs.
Nissan is in the midst of a transformation. The Leaf, one of the pioneers of electric vehicles, is about to cease production. In a way, Ariya is a replacement for Leaf. This new crossover is bigger and more traditional, and it happens to have some neat features.
var adpushup = window.adpushup = window.adpushup || {que:()}; adpushup.que.push(function() { if (adpushup.config.platform !== “DESKTOP”) { adpushup.triggerAd(“4d84e4c9 -9937-4f84-82c0-c94544ee6f2a”); } else{ adpushup.triggerAd(“6a782b01-facb-45f3-a88f-ddf1b1f97657”);
For a week I drove it around like it was mine. Before we go, we asked what you’d like to know about this car. Today, I’m going to answer all of your toughest questions.
Review: 2024 Nissan Ariya prioritizes comfort like few EV rivals
First, let’s discuss the most voted question on the panel.
var adpushup = window.adpushup = window.adpushup || {que:()}; adpushup.que.push(function() { if (adpushup.config.platform !== “DESKTOP”) { adpushup.triggerAd(“5646c171 -cb6e-4e2c-8440-49013ca72758”); } else { adpushup.triggerAd(“e7c4c913-3924-4b2d-9279-6c00984dd130”);
Is this car fun to drive?
Simply put, of course! Is driving an electric car the most fun? Absolutely not, but this car isn’t aimed at enthusiasts. It’s aimed squarely at people who want a comfortable, quiet, pseudo-futuristic electric car. At this point, it’s pretty good. In fact, it’s powerful enough, at 238 horsepower (177 kilowatts), that you can still do the point-and-shoot traffic navigation that electric cars excel at.
How fast is the acceleration and what is its real-world extent?
We don’t have a good place to test 0-60 this week, but expect a real-world time of about 7.5 seconds for a front-wheel-drive model like the one we drove. The AWD version will drop nearly 5 seconds, and the upcoming NISMO version may drop to around 4 seconds.

In terms of total range, according to Nissan, our test car was able to travel 289 miles (465 kilometers) on a full charge. In our time with the car, we averaged 2.6 miles per kilowatt. In other words, at this speed, it would only need to travel about 226 miles (364 kilometers) before needing to be recharged. Which is fair considering I didn’t really raise Ariya. Like any car on the road today, the harder you drive it, the faster it will burn through gas or electricity.
Would you choose this over the competition? Why?
I think many people would choose it over competitors like Tesla, Kia, Polestar, etc. Here’s why. It comes from a brand that makes many buyers very satisfied. A lot of people want to buy Japanese cars, a lot of people want to buy electric cars. If you’re going to choose a Honda, Toyota or Mazda, it’s not that easy.
On the other hand, as a 6-foot-6 guy, I personally wouldn’t buy the Ariya. No matter what I did, I just didn’t fit in. It’s not as fast or as sporty as I’d like. Please register Hyundai Ioniq 5 N for me. However, I needed a lot more cash than I needed to buy the Ariya.
How is the ride comfort?
Pretty good. Over the past month, I’ve had the pleasure of driving the new Nissan Kicks, Infiniti QX80, Subaru Crosstrek, RAM 1500 Tradesman, and Nissan Z Nismo. In my opinion, the Ariya is the most comfortable of the bunch. It soaks up bumps well and the cabin is very quiet. The Infiniti is close, but it’s such a tall vehicle and lacks the nimble handling that the Ariya has.
So, those are all your questions, but if you have one or two more that come to mind, please leave them in the comments. Let’s continue to follow up!
