Zeekr 007 EV can be charged to 80% in just 10 minutes

007 claims to have the fastest charging speed in the world

Electric vehicles face numerous hurdles, including high prices and poor charging infrastructure. If those issues weren’t enough, owners also face long charging times.

Thankfully, many companies are working to address these issues and make electric vehicles more appealing. One of them is Zeekr, whose latest battery can charge from 10% to 80% in just over ten minutes.

That’s close to the time it takes to fill up a tank of a traditional internal combustion engine car, the company said, thanks to an upgraded battery that supports 5.5C ultra-fast charging. The new lithium iron phosphate battery “has optimized materials and upgraded technology” and charges faster than the existing nickel-cobalt-manganese battery.

The battery will be used for the first time in the 007 sedan, and Zeekr says the car’s enhanced battery management system ensures that “the charging experience remains stable and fast even in harsh environmental conditions.” In particular, the vehicle can be charged from 10% to 80% in 30 minutes, even at temperatures of 14° F (-10° C).

Zeekr deliveries are scheduled to begin next week, and the company has previously said the model has a CLTC range of 428 miles (688 km). The car is expected to travel 311 miles (500 km) in 15 minutes.

In addition to the high-tech battery, the 007 also has a high-end interior with Nappa leather seats, with heated, ventilated and massage functions for the front seats. Rear passengers are not neglected either, as they will find hip heaters and a power reclining function that can tilt the backrest up to 7 degrees. Other highlights include a 15-inch infotainment system, a 35.5-inch head-up display and a microfiber suede headliner.

The model uses the Sustainable Electric Architecture (SEA) and is available in both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive options. The former has a power of 416 hp (310 kW / 421 PS), while the latter has a power of 637 hp (475 kW / 646 PS). Customers can also get a long-range battery, but it does not seem to adopt high-speed charging technology.
