Zeem Solutions announced the construction of a large electric truck warehouse near the Port of Newark, New Jersey. Scheduled to be operational by the end of 2024, the first phase of the warehouse will provide electric trucks to regional fleet operators, providing overnight parking and charging services for 200 trucks and additional charging services for up to 300 electric trucks during the day.
The charging stations will also be accessible to fleet operators of all vehicle classes, including airport shuttles, rental cars, ride-sharing and last-mile delivery operators. Zeem Solutions will also have a fleet of Class 8 battery-electric tractors, as well as other battery-electric vehicles that businesses can operate through Zeem Solutions’ Electric Fleet-as-a-Service model, which is currently operating out of its headquarters garage in Los Angeles.
The site features a large 30 megawatt (MW) interconnection facility, 76 DC fast charging ports and other amenities, and is strategically located near Newark Airport, marine port terminals in New York and New Jersey, warehousing and distribution facilities, transportation companies and the North Entrance to the Port of Newark. As the Zeem Solutions warehouse begins operations, diesel emissions will be significantly reduced, which will improve air quality in the local community.
Fleet has partnered with Zeem Solutions to electrify its East Coast drayage operations. Port24, a leading transportation and logistics company, will begin operations immediately upon the opening of Zeem’s Newark warehouse. Zeem Solutions deployed its Port of Newark electric vehicle warehouse using funding from the New Jersey Zero Emission Incentive Program (NJZIP), marking a major step in reducing emissions for East Coast port drayage operations.
