Zelio Ebikes, a well-known brand in the Indian electric two-wheeler market, has boldly entered the electric vehicle field with the launch of its first three-wheeler models, Tanga Butterfly and Tanga SS. Prices start at Rs 1.45 lakh and Rs 1.40 lakh (ex-showroom) respectively.
Performance and features
Both models are equipped with 1200W motors and 48/60V 135Ah Eastman batteries, with a cruising range of up to 100 kilometers on a single charge. A top speed of 30 km/h ensures a smooth and efficient commute, while an 8-hour charging time makes for easy daily use. For safe and reliable charging, both vehicles are equipped with SMPS chargers with voltage fluctuation protection.
Zelio prioritizes rider and passenger safety by incorporating an advanced braking system. Stability and control are ensured by lever-operated drum brakes at the front and paddle-operated drum brakes at the rear, as well as a mechanical parking brake. Comfort features such as telescopic hydraulic shock absorbers at the front and leaf spring shock absorbers at the rear ensure a smoother ride.
Design and durability
The Tanga Butterfly uses Mild Steel (MS) construction, while the Tanga SS uses Stainless Steel (SS) for enhanced durability. Both models feature a highly rigid monocoque frame, making them resilient and long-lasting.
Its compact dimensions (2690 mm long, 1000 mm wide, 200 mm ground clearance) make it ideal for driving on narrow city streets. Customers also have a variety of color options:
- Tanga butterfly: red, gray, white, sky blue, army green

Convenience and security
Both e-rickshaws come equipped with useful features including:
