2025 Porsche 911 Carrera S has more power and standards

Evolution is not just A force in the animal kingdom. It happens in the automotive world too. Just look at the Porsche 911, whose basic design and layout have been refined over more than 60 years. The next stage of its development will affect the 2025 Carrera S Coupe and Cabriolet models, which will receive additional power and standard features.

The Carrera S’s 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged flat-six now produces 473 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque, thanks to a pair of new turbochargers and charge-air cooling improvements. Porsche says the 30 extra horsepower compared to the outgoing S brings the latest model’s engine “up to the performance levels previously reserved for the previous-generation 911 Carrera GTS.” This improvement and the PDK eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission give the 2025 car a 0-60 mph time of 3.1 seconds (with the Sport Chrono package), 0.2 seconds faster than the previous-generation Carrera S.

The more powerful engine comes with new standard performance features, including a sports exhaust system with silver outlets, brakes from the previous generation 911 Carrera GTS and updated dampers that provide faster response and better ride quality.

The Carrera S’s cabin also gets some upgrades. It now has more leather than before, covering the seats, headrests, upper dash, upper door panels and rear seats (if ordered). The Coupe comes standard with two front bucket seats; the convertible comes standard with non-removable rear seats.

Of course, for a fee, the interior can be spiffed up by adding extra leather on the lower dash, glove box lid, rear quarter panels and rear tunnel. There’s also an available Exclusive Manufaktur leather interior package, offering up to 48 two-tone combinations.

The latest stage of the 911’s development is expected to hit Porsche dealerships this spring. Pricing starts at $146,400* for the Coupe and $159,600* for the Cabriolet.
