Featured Car Hunter Networkan online auction platform operated by ClassicCars.com, is auctioning this 2007 Honda Accord EX Coupe. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this car will be donated to the American Cancer Society.
“The world of car enthusiasts is a very tight-knit family,” said Tyson Hugie, one of our ClassicCars.com Journal contributors. In addition to his editorial work, Tyson has managed an automotive-themed YouTube channel for nearly 18 years, during which time he has connected with some amazing people through the platform.
One of those people was Mark Walters of Arvada, CO. Tyson’s love of Honda/Acura fascinated Mark, especially some of Tyson’s recent restorations.
Earlier this year, Tyson received an email from Mark that read, “I have owned Hondas for 37 consecutive years. My first was a 1987 Accord LX-i hatchback, followed by a 2007 Accord EX five-speed, and a 2021 Ridgeline. I now find myself in a serious health situation. I need to find a good home for my Accord coupe with 46,000 miles on it. I am a subscriber and love your beautiful restorations.”
Tyson and Mark connected over the next few weeks, and Mark’s beloved Accord was moved to Arizona. Mark asked Tyson to help him fulfill two wishes: 1) make a video about the Accord, and 2) help it find a good home. Tyson’s video about the Accord went live on June 1, and Mark loved it. “All of my friends and family who I shared the video with raved about it and thought it looked very professional.”
Just 19 days later, Tyson learned from Mark’s nephew that Mark had passed away. Lymphoma took his life at the age of 62.
One of the notes that came with the Accord was a handwritten note from Mark: “Thank you for finding a loving home for my baby.” Which brings us to today’s AutoHunter Spotlight. Tyson is looking for the perfect home for Mark’s car. $1,000 of the proceeds from the auction will be donated to the American Cancer Society in Mark’s name.
Its first owner purchased the car at Fisher Honda in Boulder, Colorado, and it remained there until early 2024. Power is provided by a K24 2.4-liter i-VTEC I4 and is sent through a five-speed manual transmission. Features include fog lights, a power moonroof, and newer Yokohama tires. Finished in Alabaster Silver Metallic paint with a gray cloth interior, this 45,953-mile Accord Coupe comes with service records, window sticker, OEM nose guard, spare key, owner’s manual, brochures, service records, service booklet, CARFAX report, and clear title in the seller’s name.
The Alabaster Silver Metallic exterior features OEM-style aftermarket fog lights, heated and power-adjustable mirrors, a power sunroof, front and rear mudguards, and LED taillights.
A set of 16-inch cast aluminum wheels and 205/60 Yokohama tires installed in October 2023 allow this Accord to take to the road with ease.
The seats are covered in gray cloth. Conveniences include remote keyless entry, power windows and door locks, LED ambient lighting, a tilt-and-telescoping steering column, air conditioning, and a six-speaker AM/FM/CD audio system with a six-disc in-dash CD changer. The trunk has an all-weather mat and a compact spare tire with a jack.
Vehicle information is displayed on the 160 mph speedometer, 8,000 rpm tachometer, and coolant temperature and fuel level gauges. The odometer shows 45,953 miles, which is consistent with the 45,842 mile number reported by CARFAX in May 2024.
Under the hood is a K24 2.4-liter i-VTEC I4 rated at 166 horsepower and 160 pound-feet of torque from the factory. Output goes to the front wheels via a five-speed manual transmission. The seller reports that the following services were performed between 2021 and 2024:
- Replace cabin air filter and serpentine belt
- Replaced windshield wipers and engine air filter
- 2023 Mobil One Full Synthetic Oil Change
- Replace the battery and spark plugs
- Changing the manual transmission fluid
The four-wheel double-wishbone suspension features front and rear stabilizer bars. Power anti-lock disc brakes with ceramic pads and drilled and slotted rotors bring this Accord to a stop in a hurry.
The seller notes a light scratch on the front air dam and the driver’s seat and door panels are a bit dirty.
CARFAX reports begin in 2007 and indicate ownership in Colorado and Arizona. An accident was reported in 2008; according to the original owner, the vehicle was hit by a truck going less than 5 mph and suffered cosmetic damage. As a result, the passenger side door skin and quarter panel, right rear wheel, and rear bumper were replaced with genuine Honda parts.
There are several items that will be included when you purchase a vehicle. These include:
- OEM full nasal mask with bag
- OEM Trunk Cargo Net
- Spare front fender
- Spare polished exhaust pipe
- 2 regular keys and 1 valet key
- Owners Manual
- Service Manual
- brochure
- Original purchase documents
- Service record restored to new
- Registration and Emissions Paperwork Restoration
- Touch up paint
- Miscellaneous spare parts
- The window sticker shows the original price is $23,245
Tyson said, “I am honored that Mark reached out to me and trusted me with his Accord. His record keeping, care and maintenance of the Accord speaks volumes about his pride in ownership. I am honored to donate $1,000 of the auction proceeds to the American Cancer Society in Mark’s name.”
In the video below, the seller provides some footage of the car’s history, a walk-around and drive, and a breakdown of everything that comes with the purchase of the car.
The auction for this 2007 Honda Accord EX Coupe will end on Monday, August 12, 2024 at 12:00 PM (PDT).
