This Nissan Silvia and More Showcase at Future Collector Cars

Future Collectible Car Show (FCCS) is almost here, and now is the end of the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Fall Auction. FCCS is a racing-style event that celebrates the cars we love today and the collectibles of tomorrow, featuring vehicles of any year, make and model that best represent the future interest of the hobbyist. You can attend or display your vehicle at WestWorld Scottsdale on Sunday, October 13, 2024.

One of the many vehicles at the event will be this 1999 Nissan Silvia S15 Spec R, which Cave Creek, Arizona resident Dave Leden recently purchased from Japan. It all started in November 2022 when Dave spent a lot of time looking for an original and unmodified vehicle and finally found this one. “That can be hard to do because a lot of these vehicles have been modified with body kits, bad engine modifications, or have rust issues,” he said.

As advertised, this Nissan has 70,000 km (43,500 miles) on the clock and has been well maintained. A lot of this was based on gut feeling and trust, since all Dave had were photos from the internet and the hope that the Japanese rating system would be true, especially when it came to rust.

Of course, to be eligible for import into the U.S., the vehicle must be at least 25 years old. Stacked Imports in Osaka helped handle the transaction and storage until Nissan planned its grand voyage. During this time, Dave sourced OEM air bumpers, side skirts, and an HSI DG-5 suspension to install before the car arrived. “Buying parts and service in Japan often saves on shipping and labor costs,” Dave adds.

In April 2024, the Nissan finally arrived on our shores, and the wait was over. Dave didn’t waste any time further personalizing his Nissan – he installed GTR R35 Brembo brakes with 380mm rotors, added a stock aero GT spoiler and Ganador mirrors, and swapped out the Bride Stradia III carbon fiber seats. The exhaust has been upgraded to a Tomei Ti Expreme, and the Nismo Coppermix Twin clutch combines strength with easy operation. For wheels and tires, he chose a set of 18 x 9.5 Volk TE37SL wheels wrapped in Yokohama ADVAN V601s.

“In the near future, I plan to upgrade the turbocharger to an overhead Garrett G25-550, add an intercooler, tune the fuel system, and do some other supporting modifications,” Dave said.

You can see Dave’s car and more at WestWorld FCCS in Scottsdale on Sunday, October 13, 2024. You can register your car for the show by submitting a $100 fee, which includes four general admission tickets (which also allows each person to visit the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Fall Auction), a limited edition participation T-shirt, and a commemorative pin. See you there!
